Book Description

Tracey Garvis Gravesand Anna and T.J.return in this companion novella to the New York Times bestseller On the Island.

When twenty-three-year-old dot-com millionaire Owen Sparks walked away from his charmed life, he had one goal in mind: get as far away as possible from the people who resented his success, or had their hand out for a piece of it. A remote uncharted island halfway around the world seemed like a perfectly logical place to get away from it all.

Calia Reed wasn't part of Owen's plans. The beautiful British girl—on holiday in the Maldives with her brother, James—made Owen wonder if getting away from it all might be a lot more enjoyable with a carefree girl who didn't know anything about the life he left behind.

But Owen had no idea how much his carefully detailed plans would go awry. Nor did he realize that a decision he made would have such a catastrophic effect on two passengers who boarded a plane in Chicago.

And when Owen shows up at Anna and T.J.'s door with an incredible story to tell, everyone involved will learn just how much their lives are intertwined.

Uncharted includes an early look at Covet, coming September 2013

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent follow-up to On the Island July 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
On the Island was one of my favorite reads of 2012 and one of my all-time favorite reads period (I push this book on everyone I know) so I was very excited to read Uncharted, a follow-up novella. My excitement was not unfounded. Uncharted explored the mystery of the human bone remains T.J. and Anna found while they were stranded on one of the remote uncharted islands in the Maldives.

If you read On the Island you might remember that T.J. and Anna found the remains of a person in a cave on the island and they dubbed him "Bones." When they were rescued and they mentioned it to the authorities, it was assumed that it was the remains of Owen Sparks, a missing dot-com millionaire whose trail went cold in the Maldives. Imagine T.J. and Anna's surprise when Owen Sparks showed up at their door with his amazing story.

Uncharted was a short read (it can easily be read in one sitting if one is so inclined) but very satisfying and so, so good. I loved reading Owen's experiences, which was different from Anna and T.J.'s experience on the island. With them it was mostly about survival and the violent beauty of the island while Owen's (at least during the first few months of his stay) was about finding peace and solitude. It was his island paradise away from his greedy family members and away from the stress of his business. It was getting back to nature and using the skill his dad (who passed away) taught him when he was a young boy. And when Owen got felt the need for human interaction, his seaplane pilot--who he grew very close to--was just a phone call away to take him back to the mainland.

It was on one of these trips to the mainland that Owen met Calia Reed and her brother James.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sequel to ON THE ISLAND July 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I enjoyed reading about Owen Sparks who is mentioned in the first book On the Island: A Novel and his story not developed. Now we know all about the bones and who built the cabin in the woods. This was a fascinating story that I read in one day. The romance was believable and the friendship between the three island characters rang true. The writing is good and the details were well researched. The glimpse of domesticated T.J. and Anna from the first book was fun.
I received this book for review from the publisher.

5.0 out of 5 stars Uncharted Review July 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I LOVED On the Island so naturally, I was excited to read this book. It did not disappoint. The story is about Owen, who T.J. and Anna originally thought was Bones. Turns out, he's not. He's alive and well and looked them up to tell them his story among other things.

I liked that T.J. and Anna's POVs are included in the book. It gives me an insight into what they were thinking and I was constantly comparing Owen's adventure with theirs. Needless to say, T.J. and Anna had it a lot worse that Owen. I enjoyed reading the book and learning about why Owen wanted to get away and how his life changed while on the island.

I was a little disappointed as to some character development and some of the plot idea. I didn't like that there apparently aren't a lot of sharks or they won't disturb people as much but sharks play into the plot and had a more significant role than I thought they would.

Overall, this was a great companion book and I would recommend it to others.

5.0 out of 5 stars If You Still Haven't Let Go.... July 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Yesterday, July 2, 2013, was release day for "Uncharted", by Tracey Garvis Graves. Naturally, having read and loved, "On the Island", I purchased it for my Kindle, without hesitation. Today I finished it. Tracey spared no emotion in this novella, an explanation of sorts to an unanswered question from On the Island. TJ and Anna's story is so beautiful and one of my favorite things about On the Island is that it didn't REQUIRE a follow-up book. We weren't plagued by fact, much to the contrary, we WANTED more of the characters Tracey helped us befriend. We wanted to untwist the knots in our stomachs and put the box of tissues away to see more happy, stress-free living for the characters we grew to love. Well, Uncharted is a lovely reward in that respect. In its own right, it is also a white-knuckle ride. We meet some new characters but, Tracey spared no expense in getting us just as connected to them as we are to TJ and Anna. I have never been a fan of reviews containing spoilers, so, this one won't be ruining anything for anyone. What I will say is that the same levels of loneliness, desperation, fear, and love are expressed flawlessly. I don't think you HAVE TO have read On the Island to enjoy Uncharted, but, you WILL want to read On the Island immediately after you finish - so, go ahead - just get both if you haven't already. I promise, you won't be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars What a precious follow-up to On The Island. July 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I literally just read On The Island a day ago, so when I saw this was out I could hardly wait to get started. What this story did was make love TJ and Anna more, and opened my heart to Owen. This story also helped to tie up some lose ends and really helped to appreciate the sheer grit and determination that it took for Anna and TJ to survive the island.

4.0 out of 5 stars good follow-up July 24, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Uncharted is the companion novella to Tracey Garvis-Graves full length novel, On The Island. While I wasn't completely captivated by Uncharted like I certainly was with OTI, I still found it a good quick read. The romance lover in me missed out on all the things that I loved about the budding relationship between TJ and Anna in the first book... there was minimal detail about the quick romance between Owen and Calia in this story. I realize that a heart stoppingng romance wasn't the goal of the author in this novella, and while there is, obviously, a love story beneath it all, it wasn't the point. The point was to fill in all those blanks we were left with after OTI, and that goal is definitely achieved in Uncharted. The story of how Owen Sparks' time on the island effected TJ and Anna's life on the island is remarkable. While Owen's life on the island was completely his choice, he had free reign to leave the island whenever he desired and he could restock on any needed supplies at any given time. Of course TJ and Anna were completely stuck on this island for years after that plane crash, no one knowing they were there, their time on the island may have gone completely different had Owen not been there first.

It was a really well written puzzle, this book... leaving no stone unturned. While I missed the heated romance aspect of it, I respect the author for not giving me what I want, but instead deliberately making this story it's own. It definitely makes me want to go back and read On The Island again, one of my favorite books of all time.

Without any doubt, if you loved On the Island, I'm sure you can't wait to get your hands on this story. It's a satisfying end to an incredible story
