The pair my father bought some 20 years ago is a good pair of tweezers. The steel is strong and springy and the tip is honed to a sharp point. I was hoping to get a pair of my own but it looks like that isn't happening.

The pair I just received is soft rolled steel that has about a 50% success rate plucking a hair. From what I can tell they've decided to just cash in on their old reputation until everyone realizes they sell junk now.

Real classy work "uncle bill."

I had a pair of the tweezers these are based on and lost them. These are a pale imitation. The originals have beveled edges so the tip comes to a precision point. These are stamped out and the tips don't even meet cleanly. Practically worthless.

Based on the reviews, I was really excited to get these tweezers. They're horrible, though. They don't grip anything. I can't even pluck a hair out of my eyebrows with these. Would not recommend.

I was putting together a first aid kit for overnight float trips. My goal was to have everything small as possible since space is very limited in a 12' kayak but it also has to be highly functional. These tweezers are definitely small enough to meet the first requirement and have a great locking feature on the clip so they won't become loose and cause further injury as you reaching around in the first aid bag. On the down side, they are they are lacking in the sharpness aspect. The pair that I received had a slight radius at the tip making it impossible to grab slivers imbedded in the skin. I guess I will have to sharpen these tweezers as another reviewer mention.

I have had a pair of these tweezers for at least 20 years. I protect them with my life! I always have one designated location where I can find them. Coupled with a magnifying glass, a person can pick the smallest slivers. I am very happy to find a place where I am able to get more. Working as a carpenter and a logger. Burning wood for fuel. I have had my share of slivers. I think many people would love these tweezers. Could be a great gift item.

Short review : out of the package they are average tweezers, good for picking up small doodads like beads, no worse than a swiss-army tweezer. A few laps with 1000 grit sandpaper and you can turn these into some very nice precision tweezers worth of being called "The Tweezers with Pin-Point-Precision" as they are stamped. Apparently Uncle Bill's tweezers have been around for years, and he used to bevel the edges of the tips to needle points. At some point he must have sold the biz to a company who mass-produce these with stamped metal and they don't bevel the tips. That, dear reader, is left to you.
The keychain holder is what really makes these useful. You can put these into your EDC (every day carry) kit very easily. Like I said, a few laps with 1000 grit and you have great tweezers (5 star worthy). As they come, they are merely decent, but they have the potential to be great.

At what point did Uncle Bill sell out? Destitution or perhaps death forced "him" to turns the reigns of operations over to El Mar Inc. Truly the saddest day for Uncle Bills legacy.
My original purchase of tweezers was in 1985. A crafted tool by prideful employees indeed. Enter my ex-wife ten years ago. "Dear, have you seen my tweezers," I asked. "Yes, I threw them away because when I was plucking my eyebrows THEY GRABBED MY SKIN so I threw them away!" Funny that THEY never did anything to me after 15+ years of constant use.
I proceeded to fabricated a functioning facsimile out of a broken inch-wide bandsaw blade basing my design on Uncle Bills. I retained the original tube container as a reminder of their unfortunate and undeserved demise.
Recently I purchased(I thought) four tweezers, two with keychain holder. I received four keychain-type. Not upset initially I thought it might be an error in my favor. WRONG!!!!!
Then I used, or tried to use them. They SUCK. I COULDN'T BE MORE DISPLEASED!! Being a machinist, I examined one tweezer after failing miserably when pulling a single hair after nine attempts and have concluded that El Mar Inc. has a different definition of "pinpoint precision" along with their complete ignorance ie. quality control.
Only after an hour with a diamond hone did I ACHIEVE their claim of pinpoint precision. Sooo sad and El Mar should be prosecuted for false advertising. They should also be ridiculed and ashamed for having taken what was a perfect product, in my opinion, and Uncle Bill's namesake and upon their acquisition of the company, threw them both into the realm of defecation. Which is, by the way, precisely what I think of this division of El Mar Incorporated's operation!!!!
Thanks for nothing and more poignantly, THANKS ALOT, ex-wife!!!!!!

I've had a set of these in my toiletry kit for... whew- honestly, I don't know; well over twenty years, for certain and they've been incredibly handy for grabbing tiny and/or out-of-place rogue hair.

Here to pick up another pair, and planning to get two or three while I'm at it! I've tried freshening the edges of my long-term pair a few times and have never gotten them "right". They're also my number-one reach-for tool any time I've had to pick out a thorn, or a metal or wood sliver.
