Elsa Beskow (1874-1953) is the most popular children's illustrator in Sweden, where her picture books have been known and loved for over a century.

We love the Beskow books -- for both boys and girls. This one is particularly good as Peter and Lottie "borrow" Mr. Blue's boat and lose an oar. Taking responsibility for their actions, they work to buy a new oar. This is a great story for teaching the habit of responsibility, owning up to our mistakes and forgiveness.
