This product is great. High quality, and very stylish. For those who want an alternative to plastic toys, it's a great addition to the toy closet. I must say the previous reviewer's review is ridiculous, and unfair to the product. You can't expect a set of blocks to teach your child a language, or be a substitute for a language school, come on! Review the product, not give low ratings for absurd reasons.

These blocks are FAR better than the sets I've seen anywhere else. They're large enough for little hands to get a good grip on them but not heavy enough to do much damage in terms of hurting themselves. Workmanship is VERY impressive: The letters, pictures and numbers are all cut out and painted with such accuracy (looks like laser etching) that its quite pleasing to the eye. The only problem I personally had (not that it had any affect on my 1-year old) is that the pictures and the letters do not coincide. This seems to be the case with all the blocks I've looked at, but it would be nice if I picked up a block with the letter "C" on it and it had a picture of a chicken on the other side.

These are great blocks and look like they will last forever. I'm impressed with the quality of the letter cutouts, looks to be cut with laser precision. Colors are strong but not too bright, perfect in my opinion.

The letters are not too much different than the English blocks (obviously just a few exceptions for the Spanish letters). However, the important thing to remember is that these blocks have animals on one side - all with the Spanish names. The numbers are also written in Spanish.

They are just the right size for our 5 month old to grab in one hand, and practice his motor skills but will also be useful for a much older child to start spelling, math and maybe even make stories with the animals. And, of course, they'll be fun to stack up and knock over!

I just received this set brand new and was actually very disappointed to learn that it's two letters short. I grew up mostly bilingual and wanted to teach my toddler the Spanish alphabet. I chose this set specifically because I can just remove the additional letters (CH, LL, N with the Tilde, and the double R) to practice the English ABC's with her.
I am well aware that there are discrepancies regarding the actual number of letters in the Spanish alphabet, with some sources stating 27 up to the traditional alphabet counting 30. Most sources I checked, including native speakers in my family, stated that of the extra letters, the double R is the most recent casualty dropped from the official alphabet. That being said however, Uncle Goose includes all four letters in their 28 block set, which leads me to my problem...when I try to put together the entire alphabet in Spanish with this set, I end up two blocks short, always missing the W and the Y (the letters are available since each block has multiple letters on it, but you can't put one block in two places.) Granted, I have no problems putting the alphabet together in English, but if that was all I wanted to do, I would have just ordered the English set for my daughter.
It's a great concept, and I have written Uncle Goose directly to ask for the two missing letters to what should be a 30 piece set. Also, price check before ordering this, or any other Uncle Goose set, from Amazon. I found it cheaper by $1.00 on the Uncle Goose site, which goes pretty far these days.
***UPDATE: I emailed the company which manufactures the Uncle Goose blocks explaining the situation and requested the missing blocks. Their response indicated that they are aware letters are missing, even though the item description calls it a "complete set." They also told me that due to their manufacturing process, they had to make a "compromise" and purposefully left out the missing letters. I was told they could send me the two letters I needed to make a 30 piece set and asked to pay the $5 shipping fee. This is unacceptable.
FYI to bilingual parents or those working to teach their child a second language, go ahead and buy this set if you don't mind not having the whole 30 letter alphabet. But look for other options if this is your intention. It's not worth the frustration.

I love the feel, look, and style of the blocks. Not too heavy so when your toddler throws a temper tantrum and well, throws the blocks it is manageable...well, just as manageable as the temper tantrum itself. (He is not quite 2 yet...we're working on it ^_^)

I got them early on in my son's life so that he would have some nice blocks...as he started teething a molar he chomped on one and the ink did bleed some. I put them away until I knew he was well past his oral stage. This is the worst thing I can say about the blocks.

Overall, we use the blocks on a semi-regular basis and he knows about 6 letters and 4 numbers. nothing savant but effortless (as a bilingual family). It is cool to be at the supermarket and have your young toddler child turn and say, "mama...U"

I use these blocks in teaching my preschool Spanish class and they work great! So I'm not sure how they aren't helpful in learning Spanish. The animals are wonderful and my son really enjoys them. My students enjoy hunting through the blocks for find an animal that starts with this letter or that...I do wish all letters of the alphabet were represented in the animals...but...oh well.

Oh and the numbers are great. I like the ability to do some math stuff as he gets older so they should prove to be a well used toy with longevity...which is key when I buy a toy. I expect EVERY toy to work for ME as long as possible through as many stages as possible and I think this is one of them.

If you are looking for a good solid toy to help reinforce what you are already doing these blocks are wonderful and beautiful (and not feminine) but if you are looking for something to teach your child Spanish that is a little more hands off try a library Spanish reading hour first.

These blocks are absolutely beautiful - they look even better in person! They are well-made and my niece and her parents love them! I have received so many thank you messages and beautiful photos since I sent them the blocks. I got her a set of English and Spanish blocks as her mom is bilingual, and she is already making sounds from both languages. I highly recommend these.

I love the craftsmanship, colors and retro design style. However, I wish that all letters had a corresponding animal on the block itself. Not all letters had a corresponding animal design and each block had several letters, a number, an animal (with written name in Spanish) which did not necessarily correspond to any of the letters featured on the block. My tot loved the pictures and I think the names in Spanish will help him learn spelling eventually. Ideally I would have liked blocks that had one letter featured - for example for letter U you could have number 1 (Uno) and a word with drawing starting in U. I realize there the designer likely used most common animals that kids see but it could have been expanded more with other items. I would buy again regardless as there are no competing blocks in Spanish. Just wish it were better designed.

Adorable. Both for baby shower and the paternal side of family is Hispanic so these were perfect.

My mom purchased these for my two year old. We are raising him bilingual (English/Spanish) so it was very nice to find these blocks that had Spanish words on them! They are of very nice quality and seem like they will still be around years for now. I especially like that they are made here in the USA! Difficulty finding blocks not made in China was a big reason why I hadn't purchased blocks for my son in the past. My son has so much fun spelling new words and pointing out the animals. I recommend these blocks to anyone looking to add language variety to their children's lives.

These are my go-to gift for friends expecting babies. I've sent various languages based on the parents' second language of choice, typically accompanied by a book, too, and it's always a hit! The quality is very good, and blocks are a gift that spans a lot of years, from basic stacking to color grouping to letter identification and on to supporting 2nd language skills. I hope you enjoy giving or receiving these as much as we and our friends do. Just don't steal idea for my friends or i'll be scrambling for a new idea!
