Great for anytime,
This review is from: Uncle John's Giant 10th Anniversary Bathroom Reader (Uncle John's Bathroom Reader Series) (Paperback)
This book is absolutely a must if you love to read. It has everything from funny quotes and happenings to the history of late-night TV. Also, there is a little known or interesting fact on the bottom of every page. Since I received this book for Christmas last year, I have increased my knowledge of completely irrelevant, but interesting facts by at least 40%. This is great not only for when natures calls, but for long car trips, and whenever you run out of good reading material (which, despite all the magazines I get, seems to happen much too often.)

I though that this was a fantastic book. It was informative and amusing, filled with trivia and history. If you have ever wondered about anything around you then this is the book for you. You never know what you are going to find on the next page.

Normally, I wouldn't think of buying this kind of book, but it's been a GREAT addition to our bathroom; we love it! What I love about this bathroom reader book is that all the passages are good, readible sizes, nothing's too long that you have to continue reading it in another sitting (ha-ha). :-) There are some informative sections and some funnies, and interesting quotes. It's a sizeable book that contains many things you'd normally not hear about - the CIA and LSD experimentations (dates back to the Nazi's), people famous for being naked (pg. 157), and a quiz section about law, etc!You never know what the next page will reveal, it's always a surprise. I also enjoy the bottom of the pages that give you one line info tidbits such as "How can you tell when a kangaroo is nervous? It licks its forearms. Nobody knows why." Interesting! And...."20% of drivers get 80% of the traffic tickets".....and finally "60% of pets in Great Britain have some form of health insurance". Great facts that you'd normally not read elsewhere. This book has 500 pages, lots of reading, and we were surprised it's so interesting. I will definitely buy another edition of this BRI (Bathroom Reader's Institute) Series. Probably great to give as gifts (for fun). Enjoy and remember like the book says "Go with the flow".

A co-worker brought this book into our work and put it in the bathroom. Ever since, all of my co-worker's bathroom breaks have gotten a little longer than usual. It is a wonderful thing for any bathroom. The content is absolutely fascinating and the passages are short enough that it doesn't take a long time to finish each one.But beware!!! Especially bosses out there who don't want their employees taking long bathroom breaks. When this book is put into a bathroom, the bathroom suddenly becomes one of the most popular rooms in the place.

This book along with all the Uncle John books just make the time in the bathroom go so much faster. With Stories about presidents to rock stars to average people. You can open to any page and just read. If I could give it 10 stars I would. I would give it 12 stars if I got a free copy of their new book!

It is a most curious question that I feel I don't have the answer too. Help me out fellow bathroom readers! I own 4 of these Bathroom Readers and have skimmed through all of them at various points this year. However, what makes this one different is I've actually read 80% of it, which let me tell you is no easy task for a book designed for multiple skimmings :).I always love the interesting facts and stories that these Bathroom Readers present. You learn things like the history of how light beer came into being, the CIA's experments (and even possible creation?) of LSD, and more! I'm not sure how to go with this review since it's a different book altogether from what book reviewers typically write about so I'll just list a few stories and favorites of mine in the book. 1) The case of Karen Silkwood - fascinating story of how an employee at Kerr-McGee helped to shed light on her company's poor handling of radioactive materials and how they were indifferent to the hazards posed by the radioactive material to their employees - one day she just mysteriously careens into a concrete barrier and the rest is a mystery. some accounts say she didn't sleep very well and was driving under the dangerous influence of sleeping pills but some close to her say she merely took tranquilizers to reduce her stress - the tire marks and car collision path also don't happen to match up? 2) Apple Guru Guy Kawasaki's speech to a Palo Alto, CA graduating high school class - a really really good speech and I sure wish I had this guy speaking when I graduated high school 4 years ago - it's hard to describe what makes it a great read but it's just not you boring run of the mill "do good in school kids, I'm someone that's completely unable to relate to you and will proceed to bore you to death" type of speech. - required refrigerator posting for anyone who comes across it! 3) The Curses articles - I always love reading the curses section of the Bathroom Readers, they're always so interesting and eerie in the manner than seemingly they do indeed come true to those that had previously scoffed at their legends. 4) The quotations by different authors, both humorous and life-reflecting - always a joy to read and especially the section with the hilarious sports quotes by various announcers, managers and players. So what I'm trying to say is, pick this up for bathroom reading or anytime reading. It's a heck of a knowledge database. -Travis

We have quite a few of the Uncle John Bathroom Reader books and love every one of them. I've been told many times how cool it is to have something like that to read when in my bathroom. It's nice that you can read as much or as little as you want and you don't feel like you are missing anything like you do when you read a story on & off like that.

I've been a fan of the Uncle John series for a good six years now, and next to "The Best of Uncle John's," I think that the "Giant" is the finest of the entire collection. It's great to see a huge array of new chapters--and this new inSTALLment the best thing the Bathroom Reader people have flushed out in years! I recommend it!
