I love this book!, February 21, 2000
By A Customer
This book is one of those "useless facts" books, but the useless things are so interesting and unlike other "useless facts" books, it actually held my attention because the things they talk about are interesting and relevant.

This is where it all started!!, November 17, 2009
I've been reading and enjoying this series for some time now.I recently came across this little gem,and to the best of my knowledge,it was the first edition in this series.It was published in 1988,which really isn't that long ago,only 11 years in fact;and there have now been 22 in the series.It is somewhat smaller at 224 pages and sold for $9.95 at the time.It follows much the same format as we get today ,and reads just well as a new one just off the presses.As anyone who knows this series,knows it has become so popular that that it is getting its own section on the bookshelves,with many of the older ones still available alongside the new ones.The biggest difference with the newer ones is the increased sise and theme orientation.
In this first book,we'll learn that "Nearly 1/2 of America's population never read books.";The 100 most common words,and don't be surprised that #1 is "I". That among other things,Einstein said,"Imagination is more important than knowledge.";and that Edison demonstrated the first practical electric lightbulb on December 20,1879; and that "Toodle-oo" is derived from the French phrase,"Tout a l'heure",which means ,"See you later". --and that is just for starters.
The last lines in this first book are;
"Well,we're out of space,and when you've gotta go,you've gotta go.Hope to hear from you soon.Meanwhile remember:
Go With the Flow."
Uncle John and his staff must be doing something right,'cause they
Continue to keep the books flowing!!
