Does The Job- Worth the Money for Cheap OTB Carry, November 18, 2010
This review is from: Uncle Mike's Briefcase w/Internal Holster (Office Product)
A decent case- I would call it more like a courier bag or a satchel. (soft sides, not a lot of defintion.) Built to a price point, but looks pretty good. Carries a pretty heavy .357 snubby with no appreciable printing, in a pocket "behind" a pocket. Velcro top fastner opening to internal holster is OK, adjusting holster to the desired position on the internal velcro "patch" is a bit tricky. Top strap for holster does the job, but because it has a velcro closure and there is so much velcro in the holster pocket, things can get sticky trying to present your weapon. It's also got an "Uncle Mike's" fabric tag on the front flap. It's sewn in, so one would have to use a blade and some care to remove it.
Pros-
Cheap, but decently constructed
Plenty of pockets, including one that is perfect for a smart phone or b&c wallet
Shoulder strap and good solid handle
Thick enough construction to protect the goods, while preventing "printing"
Cons-
Top loading pockets only, doesn't zip open, with a top and bottom section like one would expect a "case" to do
As usual, a universal fit product means that it fits many options, but nowhere close to a custom fit
Sewn in "Uncle Mike's" tag doesn't scream gun, but it does say it plainly to the observant shooter
Top strap holds gun securely, but makes me nervous about a smooth draw
Bottom line- It's cheap, it's worth the money, I'm still using it after a month. It's OK.
