For the money, this is a nice holster. My issue is that there is NO sizing chart and you have to go snooping around the web to get the proper size. This holster will fit one of my very small semiautos but not the gun I ordered it for which is a SW 317-3".

This, like all uncle mike's holsters, is a great quality, inexpensive holster. I've used it for a Walther PPK/S, a Kel-Tec PF9 (with and without a mini light/laser combo on the rail), and a Smith & Wesson J-Frame. Holds everything securely where it should. It's very durable.

This holster carries my Makarov quite comfortably and is an excellent value for the price in my opinion.

Uncle Mike's Inside the Pants Holster Review
I purchased my Uncle Mike's ITP holster (size 16) about two weeks ago from my local gun shop to carry a Sig Sauer P6 single stack pistol and have worn it every day since then. The three places I am primarily are school, work, and home. My pistol stays with me everywhere. I am not a LEO or in the military, this review is on my experience with the civilian application of the product. I walk or ride my bicycle just about everywhere I go, but that is typically the extent of activity I have in the course of my day. My clothing in the summertime (the time of this review being written) typically consists of cargo shorts with a thick leather belt and button down shirts or T-shirts in conjunction with a light windbreaker. In the winter it is sweaters/coats and other heavy garments that greatly aid in concealment. While at the store, I tried out several other holsters including paddle holster, belt slide holsters, and other types of IWB holsters. I was attracted to the Uncle Mike's for several reasons. The first reason was the price. I am a poor college student who enjoys shooting (an expensive hobby!), and I can't really justify spending over $50 on a holster at this time. I believe I bought this item for $12 even. This price is low enough to suit even the most modest of budgets. The second thing that attracted me to this holster was the material. The inside of the holster is soft nylon, and I don't have to worry about it marring the finish on my weapon. This is something I very much like, as typically with leather, kydex and even some rougher nylon holsters will inevitably wear on the gun. While on the subject of material, I will say that the clip is made of plastic and does appear rather flimsy. I haven't had any problems with it yet, but it will take more than just a couple of weeks of wear before anything happens. However, even though the clip seems flimsy, I think it will hold up just fine. When I took this holster home from the store I put it on and tried some practical drawing. By practical drawing I mean I left my clothes where they would be everyday, and practiced presenting the firearm (unloaded of course!) in a shooting stance. For me, the draw was smooth and easy. Wearing the holster: As stated earlier, I wear a heavy leather belt at all times. For the most part, this serves to reinforce the now famous plastic clip on the waistband of my shorts. I wear the holster at the 5 o'clock position on my body, with a very slight cant forward. I do this to reduce the likelihood of "printing" while out in public. One feature that makes me prefer this over other holsters I've used with different guns is the extra bit of nylon designed to be between your body and your pistol (see amazon's picture). This being summer, I tend to sweat while riding and biking around. I keep an undershirt tucked in behind this nylon flap, but I like knowing that there is an extra layer of protection for my expensive firearm from the corrosiveness of sweat. As the past two weeks have gone by, I haven't noticed any excessive shifting of the holster during my everyday activities. I have read some complaints about this holster regarding the lack of retention. As I carry concealed and make an effort to be aware of my surroundings, I am not too worried about the notion of someone sneaking up behind me and snatching my gun from its holster (not trying to toot my own horn, just explain my reasons for not being concerned). As far as that goes, this holster is also sold with (I believe) a thumb break option. I don't care for it personally as I would prefer quick access to my firearm. In summation, I have so far found this to be an excellent holster for my needs. While it is certainly not the best holster out there, it fits my budget and my purposed extremely well, especially considering it is carrying a heavy steel framed pistol. If you are using this for your job (LEO, military, w/e) or have a more active lifestyle, then you might want to consider something different. If you want a high value (most bang for your buck) product, then this should fit the bill. p/s: I rated it 4 stars simply because nothing is perfect.

Not a Blackhawk,

I bought this holster for my Kel-Tec PF9. I have recently bought the gun for my primary concealed carry after carrying a Kimber Pro TLE for years. I carry my Kimber in a Blackhawk IWB that is very similar to the Uncle Mike's. I knew I wanted a similar holster for my Kel-Tec when I bought the Uncle Mike's holster. The Uncle Mike's does not stay in place as well as the Blackhawk holster. The clip on the Mike's is flimsy and does not grip my belt nor does the small shelf on the back side of the clip hook the belt. So far I have been very displeased with the Mike's holster. Just today, the whole rig nearly fell out of my waistband. I am very active and carry all the time and I need a holster that is going to conceal my gun and KEEP IT IN PLACE. I would strongly recommend spending the few extra dollars to buy the Blackhawk holster. I'm scrapping the Mike's holster and getting the Blackhawk for my Kel-Tec. One more bit of advice. Both holsters stretched out shortly after purchase. The holster would fall off the gun when held by the gun grip and it just did not seem secure enough to me. I remedied the problem with both holsters by putting a rivet (smooth side toward body) at the edge of the holster where the stitching ends closest to the trigger guard. The guns stay tight in the holster and feel much more secure in my opinion. Skip the Mike's and get the Blackhawk holster, I wish I had.

This holster fit my poor little Jennings J22 perfectly! I am very pleased with the material and construction as well.I didn't realize until I received it that this particular model doesn't have the fold-over retention strap you typically see on holsters, but that was my fault for not looking more closely at the product image. I wouldn't recommend for everyday concealed carry use without that retention strap, but just as a nice cover to keep a small firearm handy (without having to go through the extra step of unzipping it from a pouch), it serves its purpose well. I'll stick with Uncle Mike's for the next holster I purchase as well.

Not a Forever Holster.,

Good for the price if your gun fits the generalized sizes. Be aware that after a few years the outer material rubs off leaving black smudges on everything.

I own two of these (one for a Ruger LCP and one for a Walther P22). In the state of Georgia, concealed carry requires you to have the firearm in a holster, so something inexpensive for those times when you really don't want to pocket, waist, or ankle carry is what I was looking for. Based on the price, the Uncle Mike's IWB fit the bill. Here are a few things I like about it: 1) It's lightweight. 2) It's made of nylon, so it doesn't eat your skin when you're using it IWB. 3) It has an unobtrusive belt clip to hold it in place. Here are a few things I don't like about it: 1) All the sizes are universal, so the firearm may or may not fit snugly in the "correct" size for it. 2) The bet clip is way too flexible, so there's never a good grip on your belt. 3) This particular model has no way to secure the firearm in place, so if you move around a lot, the firearm can "jump out" of the holster. Based on the pros and cons, they're decent for the price, but I definitely wouldn't recommend them for everyday carry. I use mine more or less for backup purposes (i.e. a holster to carry the firearm in when I'm headed to the range). If you're looking for something to fit a purpose such as that, go for it. Otherwise, look for something else. |
