Seriously, we spoiled him with *expensive* movie replica light sabers for Christmas and these are his favorite gift? We bought two and he insisted we hang them on his wall immediately. He lights them every night for bedtime. They're really nice in that they have a timer feature that turns them off after 20 minutes so I don't have to worry about going and turning them off. The base can be left behind so they can be removed from the wall for easy questing throughout the house. They flicker for a real-life flame effect. Best purchase of the season! (:

So I'm 21. I didn't get this for a child but for myself! It's up above my bed and next to my Terraria and Minecraft posters. It's looks great!

Pros:
- The glow is very relaxing in a dark room, I love it.
- Had no trouble mounting it with the included hardware.
- The painting done on it looks nice

Cons:
- Turning on this torch is just ridiculous. Not sure who came up with it but...you have to screw the fire section one way to turn it on and the other way to turn it off. Not only does one of these directions literally behead the torch for battery access, but in order to turn it on you must use both hands, where as something like a button or a switch could've made this much friendlier. Especially for children.

The good: Looks really cool! Light flickers fairly realistically, plastic exterior design looks pretty snazzy. The plastic is not hard or sharp edged; it is smooth and feels good to the touch. I LOVE the automatic shutoff feature (the kids leave it on all the time, of course). The price was very reasonable. The hook to hang the torch is a nice touch.

The bad: Turning it on and off is done by twisting the top/flame portion. This would not be a problem except that if you twist too far when turning it off, you open it up (as you would do to change the batteries). The kids open it on accident like this all the time (resulting in calls of, "Daaaaad!!"). A simple on/off switch would have been much less prone to error. Also, the connection with the batteries is starting to short out - probably because of the twisting on and off so much.

The OK: The light given off by the torch is fairly dim. Really, it is impressive considering being powered by only 2 AA batteries and having to shine through a semi-opaque layer of yellow-orange plastic, but don't expect to use this as any sort of flashlight.

If I could, I would rate this 3.5 stars.

We bought two of these torches for my 6 year-old's Minecraft birthday party and they were absolutely perfect. All the kids loved them, and after the party, we mounted them in the boys room, one to each bunk bed. They are very easy to remove from their "hooks" on the wall, turn easily on and off, and they flicker in a very cool way. They also shut off automatically after about 10 minutes - which saves battery life and makes them perfect nightlights. LOVE these.

My son loves everything about it. We got it for him as a creative night-light that he could take with him on trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night. He is THRILLED with it! It feels solidly built, the flickering of the light is cool and it was easy to hang. I totally recommend this for anyone with a little explorer in their home.

I bought this for my 8 year old son's minecraft room that we did, but it would also be great for a castle room. It comes with the mounting gear and flickers a nice light in the room. My son thinks it so cool and so do I.

Admittedly, I bought this for my daughter to play pretend with. She loves being an adventurer in her imagination, but dad likes the same. So maybe I borrow this and live out my Indiana Jones fantasies. The flicker and the sound effects are choice, especially in a dark room where you can get the full effect. It's a little small, but let's be real: this is a children's toy. For the little adventurer (and even the big one) this is perfect for pretend play and reliving childhood dreams.

Your experience may be different, but the 6-yr girl said, "This is the best present you've ever given me." They're hanging next to her and her brothers beds.

With a quick twist, you get a light glowing flicker of light that looks very realistic...probably one of the better uncle milton toys...we hung it on the wall of a jungle bed, and it gives a really nice touch to the kid's room...thinking of getting another to hang in our other kid's room which has a castle theme
