My son had his 4th birthday last week and I got him a few minor presents. (He already has way too many toys). I've noticed that he loves to work with my garden tools and he prefers to play outside. So, when I spotted this National Geographic All Terrain Collector it seemed like a perfect little gift. It was. He loved it! In no time at all he was picking up rocks, sticks and other things. Then I showed him the little snap-on collecting domes and looked around for something I could capture. I spotted a honey bee in the garden and caught it with little difficulty. He was totally fascinated! Before I could do it a second time, he took the collector from me and caught a bee himself. Before long he had captured, observed and then released perhaps 10 bees with great glee. Great! I suppose it'll only be a matter of time before he experiences the sting. So far, it's okay and we've repeatedly warned him. Anyway, he loves this collector. It's his favorite present.

I bought this for my 9 year old nephew. He loves the thing and picks up all sorts of items outside, including items that he probably shouldn't pick up. Which is great, because it annoys my sister! Seems to be a good durable plastic that would last. Packaging was exciting to look at and the collection dome was an easy fit into the grippers.

9 year old son loves this! He enjoys the outdoors and catching bugs. This allows him to take a closer look at them, then letting them go.
