Product Description

Uncle Lee's Legends of China Organic White Tea (Bai Mu Dan) is grown in the mountains of the Fujian Province of China and undergoes little processing. The absence of this processing leaves the appearance and cell structure of the leaves basically unaltered. This purity may be what some researchers have said might cause white tea to have a greater concentration of antioxidants than all of the teas that originate from green tea. White tea is the most delicate of all; its taste being subtle, complex and mildly sweet.

Customer Reviews

It has a very nice and light flavor.

This tea is very good, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again, and probably will when I run out.

Having more flavor, I find that this makes an excellent iced tea.

I've been drinking this tea for over a year now, and it is the main tea I drink. I prefer other teas for flavor, for sipping and savoring, but this is what I drink the most of, as a refreshing and healthy beverage, and it is very good for that purpose.

The Amazon description, saying this is Bai Mu Dan, is incorrect. It is actually fannings. Fannings is the second to the smallest leaf size. Fannings are used in tea bags because of their small size and economic price. On the Uncle Lee's tea website, this tea is shown just as white camellia sinensis. The Uncle Lee's Organic White tea that is described as Bai Mu Dan on the Uncle Lee website is $5 for 18 bags.

The only other pure white tea I've had is Republic of Tea's Emperor's white tea, which I find superior to this tea, having a milder and sweeter flavor that is even more pleasant to drink without sweetener than this one. The Uncle Lee's white tea is closer to an oolong in both color and flavor than the Emperor's, with just a hint of bitterness and none of the herbal tones of a green tea.

That said, the RoT Emperor's White is almost 6 times more expensive than this tea, and Uncle Lee's is still easy to drink without sweetener, so I'll save the Emperor's for special moments and use the Uncle Lee's as my "daily drinker."

Having more flavor, I find that this makes an excellent iced tea. I usually use 4 bags of this, and one bag of Republic of Tea's Cherry Green Tea, to a gallon of water plus 2 heaping teaspoons of natural cane sugar to provide just a hint of sweetness in a very refreshing iced tea that everyone loves.

I never knew about white tea until I was on Amazon and found this. White tea is the best tasting tea. Just for information I read online that white tea has more antioxidents than green tea. This winter I have about five or more bags a day of hot tea. It taste clean and never bitter.I like to put one pack of stevia(natural) for sweetness. I cannot find white tea in the grocery store especially organic at all. Thank you Amazon.

It's cheap, it tastes fine (not really flavourful, but not bad), and it's helped me lose weight. I love this tea because it's pure White Tea, not that stuff Lipton sells with green tea mixed with white, modified corn starch, and fruit.

I use this tea to make sun tea. 4 bags in my sun tea jar makes the most delicious, delicate iced tea. We drink it over ice, no sweeteners needed.

This tea is amazingly tasty white tea. For most people they may not know what white tea taste like. Where black tea has the acidic taste of coffee and green tea has a very earth/leafy taste, white tea comes in as you would expect for its color. It is very light tasting with almost a lightly sweet maltiness to it. It doesn't have any of the harshness that you could find in black tea or coffee. And you can't really over brew it to release off-flavors as there is so little to the leaves. I find this tea works best for iced tea, it works well cold and has a much more refreshing flavor that other teas do on a summer day.
Of course there are there is the added benefit that it is good for you. If you want to try white tea, this is the product for you.

Never had white tea before, used to drink green tea. But I read that white tea has more antioxidants, so I thought I'd give it a try and I like it. I drink a cup every morning and night. There is far less caffiene associated with white tea than other teas, so it actually puts me to bed at night...plus all the health benefits while your sleeping makes it even better. Actually drinking a cup as I write this review :)

If I had not found this tea for $3.50 a box instead of the $8.60 I paid on Amazon I would have given it 5 stars. As far as the tea it is a 5 star tea great taste we love it! I bought 2 boxes at the $3.50 price at Big Lots so that should do us for awhile.

I kicked the coffee habit one year ago by drinking Uncle Lee's White Tea. It is the first tea that does not cause an allergic reaction and I find it delicious. I am saddened that my local supermarket has stopped handling this tea. Thank heavens I can buy it on line.
