5.0 out of 5 stars
130 profiles including full page portraits of extraordinary lesbian and gay people.,
By
This review is from: Uncommon Heroes (Paperback)
This collection illuminates the accomplishments of gays and lesbians and the gay and lesbian community.
Profiled are actors, athletes, writers, journalists, filmmakers, photographers, ex-priests, psychotherapists, corporate attorneys, activists, poets, philosophers, artists, entertainers and members of the US Congress. Many of the names in this volume were not well known to me which made it doubly appealing. The inclusion of others more famous, such as the artist/author/poet Tee A. Corinne, affirmed the validity of the book's content. Preface by Jeanne Manford, the founder of Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) and introduction by editor Phillip Sherman. Book Description - This photo-essay celebration of extraordinary Gay and Lesbian Americans isn't just about celebs like Martina and Ellen. It also follows the lives of ordinary GLBT people who do extraordinary things.

Important,
This review is from: UNCOMMON HEROES (Paperback)
It isn't just about famous people. Sure, Elton and Martina and Ellen made a difference. But there are SO many others, people who aren't famous, who have made such a difference.
