More About the Author

You could say Jeff Dobkin won a Pulitzer prize for his writing; and received the National Book Critics Circle Award from The L.A. Times, but... we don't want to say things like that because, well... they're not true but that may not matter because Jeff's writing is still breezy to read and brilliantly conversational; although at times grammatically challenged. Then again, he does offer thousands of inside tips on marketing and direct marketing and action steps on how you can increase your direct marketing response, find the best possible markets and reach them at the lowest possible cost. Then, how to generate the maximum number of phone calls from qualified prospects. Besides that, Jeffrey is the number one ranked racquetball player in his age division in Pennsylvania, loves motorcycles, music, his wife and kids, MMA, and TV, although not necessarily in that order. Please buy his books, I need the money... I mean he needs the money. Thanks.

By the way, he's written 5 books and 257 articles on humor and direct marketing. Some of his articles are fun and funny, some so academic... he doesn't even like them. His articles have been featured in over 300 magazines, so heck ---- somebody must like his writing. He's written so many articles on direct marketing, if you search "Direct Marketing Articles" on Google, he's on the first page. Go on, check it out. I'll wait. Did I mention you should buy his books? Sigh...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, practical book concentrates on direct marketing, August 15, 1999

This review is from: Uncommon Marketing Techniques: Thousands of Tips, Trick and Techniques in Low Cost Marketing Methods (Paperback)
This is a concentrated book on direct marketing for businesses -- particularly the use of multi-sequence letter campaigns and PR releases. It is very appropriate for start ups -- as the costs of his techniques are relatively low.

The author is a practical businessman. And he's got great testimonials from readers. The one from E. Joseph Cossman follows: "Today I have over one-thousand business books in my library and if I had to get rid of every one, the only one I would save would be Jeffrey's book, "UNcommon Marketing Techniques."

Again, it's a practical book with low cost techniques for the budding entrepreneur. They also can be used by any business. I particularly liked his coverage of multi-step marketing and his coverage of what to do first on writing any sales letter or ad (hint: something powerful about objectives).

I also have his other book "How to Market a Product for under $500" and recommend it without hesitation. The author appears to be a low-cost, high results guy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Hit For A Talented Author And Marketer, July 9, 2005
This review is from: Uncommon Marketing Techniques: Thousands of Tips, Trick and Techniques in Low Cost Marketing Methods (Paperback)
Jeffrey Dobkin is an expert on marketing. That's not an opinion; it's a fact. Experts do; Dobkin does. Experts are recognized in trade publications; Dobkin is written up frequently.

The articles that this man has written for publications throughout the years could probably fill a small home. Suffice it to say that there are quite a few angry forests out there that have seen many a fallen tree be used to make the paper used to print the brilliance of Jeffrey Dobkin's marketing techniques.

This book is small but concise; easy to read but informative; inexpensive but preciously valuable.

I would have to go on to long to tell you all of the good that you will find in here, so instead I'll just tell you two things that you won't find in here: no cooking recipes and no tips on how to change your oil. Aside from those two things, Mr. Dobkin gives you everything you need to know to market your product or services effectively.

I couldn't reccomend this book higher.
