5.0 out of 5 stars FLAPPIN FLOP OF HOW DO THEY DO THAT!?, July 13, 2005
By
This review is from: Uncommon Ritual (Audio CD)
to put edgar meyer's bass playing in perspective.... the two top cellos at my school walked in the room while i was listening to this and their jaw's dropped...... then when they heard the furious and yet passionate bass drop down six octaves they jumped back in awe! "that's a bassist!?" now.. having said that... not once does his work take away from the song... and both of the other players are astonishing through the entire album. I love this CD..... R&B.... Fusion... Jazz... Country... Rock... Classical.... as long as you dig music and not a genre of it... just as a woman loves the diamond on her ring and not just one facet of it....you'll probably enjoy this CD.... very thoroughly.

5.0 out of 5 stars How about six stars? seven?, August 1, 2009
This review is from: Uncommon Ritual (Audio CD)
Meyer and Fleck were astonishing in their previous effort, but I may kick that disc across the room after being totally transfixed by this one. I adore what Fleck does with the banjo, but Meyer is simply staggering on the bass! And to think that a 240 year old instrument can cut the licks Meyer asks of it is more than impressive.

I'm simply agog - eclectic is an understatement, and be forwarned. Once this album starts, you'll forget everything else you thought you might do while listening. It commands your entire attention - and wonder!
