This little gem is a portrait of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in her own words. It consists of quotes from her early life, her marriage to JFK, views on politics, the White House years, her children, her second marriage, her job as an editor, her philosphy of life, and her final illness. She was the wife of a U.S. president and was widowed twice, once when her husband John F. Kennedy was assassinated and later by the death of her second husband, Aristotle Onassis. She was an American icon. Jackie was known for her fashions and for redecorating the White House, but as this book reveals she was a woman of substance who valued her family life above all else. This book was printed in 1994, but it is still well worth reading today.

I ordered this little book (used) on a whim from one of Amazon.com's Marketplace sellers. I'm glad I did. The price was very low - mostly just postage - and the content was worth much more than I paid for it. Bill Adler, who put together this collection of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis' thoughts and comments, is very good at creating a composite picture for his readers. The Uncommon Wisdom Of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis: A Portrait in Her Own Words is an entertaining book, and I often return to it for my own pleasure.
