Book Description

“UnconVINCEd: The Unauthorized Story of Why Sting Still Won’t Work for Vince McMahon and the WWE” is a compelling, first of its kind, and completely unauthorized inside look at why one of wrestling's biggest stars - Steve Borden (Sting) - still refuses to work for WWE and Vince McMahon.

International bestselling author Michael Essany probes Borden's storied career, his deep Christian faith, battles with drug and alcohol abuse, his refusal to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, and the lingering prospect of Sting headlining one WrestleMania before his looming retirement.

This is the true story of professional wrestling's greatest mystery.

Part 1: The Icon
Part 2: The Christian Warrior
Part 3: Mistrusting McMahon
Part 4: A Deadly Proposition
Part 5: The Aging Icon

The most widely known fact about Sting is also the source of his greatest mystery.

Steve Borden, the man behind the iconic professional wrestling character Sting, is a born again Christian.

And unlike some in the wrestling business, whose professed new relationship with God may ostensibly be only for show, Borden's faith is legitimate. And the unquestionably decent, moral, and non-controversial life he's led speaks volumes about the sincerity of his Christian faith and the reason why almost every current or former colleague praises the kind soul Borden is known to possess.

But from this known fact emanates the fiction that still lingers about the legendary sports entertainer. Despite the rumors and hearsay, Borden's Christian faith is not what keeps him from working in the WWE.

Let me start out by saying that I have read almost all of Michael Essany's WWE related work published in the e-book format. On the positive side, he does have a way of capturing his own obvious interest in the subject matter as well as generating interest for the reader.

On the negative side, please notice that these are _short_. You're basically buying a magazine article. Second and, in my eyes, unforgivable, is the fact that they contain larges sections of 'cut and paste' material from his other e-books which, as an estimate, bring the amount of unique (not used elsewhere) content down to about 30% on each one.

As an example of this 'cut and paste' self plagarism, in the middle of his book on Randy Orton, you'll find yourself reading a disconnected section about the Undertaker and his Wrestlemania streak which is repeated verbatium in at least two of Essany's other books.

Speaking in general, most also contain far too many spelling/gramatical errors than are acceptable for a published work. As I mentioned, they're _short_ would a bit more editing have been too much trouble?

1.0 out of 5 stars Mea culpa December 29, 2013

The fact that it was unauthorized and relatively short should've tipped me off . Basically I could have gleaned the info contained within from Wiki or Google....shame on me. That said, it was somewhat informative but lacking in perspective from unnamed WEE insiders.

1.0 out of 5 stars Load of Crap July 26, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Anyone that knows anything about Sting knows that he NEVER once said that he wouldn't work for Vince. This whole book is completely unfounded. Not even worth the paper it's printed on. Michael Essany is full of crap. It's unauthorized for a reason...GARBAGE.
