Great modern rap...good Subnoize release,
By DrewDogg (Council Bluffs, IA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Unconformable Social Amputees (Audio CD)
First off, let me state that I am a huge Subnoize records fan, but pretty much can't tolerate any other modern rap. I have all the KMK albums, the Souljaz compilations, Dirtball, Big B, hed pe, Too Rude...pretty much everything. I had downloaded a few Saint solo tracks and was intrigued, but never had the chance to pick it up, until today that is.
I enjoyed Saint on Royal Highness and the Souljaz albums alot, did I enjoy his solo alubm? Yes, I did alot. The thing that makes me into Saint is the way he never abandons his style, always has the southern drawl and will never make a song that can be played on the radio. He is straight underground rap, and doesn't take himself too seriously, and that is a quality that a little known, underground rapper needs. He knows he's not Ludacris, Eminem, or 50-cent, nor does he try to be (100 times better in my oppinion). The songs with a more darker feeling to them (Hip Hop Punk Rock, When I grow up, Reaper, Their Lies, Get Gone) seem to fit Saint's style a little bit better than the goofy songs (Oompa Loompa, P Poppin, Ha Ha) While these songs aren't bad, they just don't match up to the songs where he actually is speaking about something. And plus, Subnoize doesn't have an artist that has darker lyrics, outside Chucky Styles of course. It's a nice breath of fresh air. The beats are also onpoint throughout the entire release, though Paper Chase and Wanna Live sound pretty similar in sound and rhyme style by Saint. The Guest appearances are all great, especially Dirtball on Throw it up, Chucky Styles on Reaper, and Big Hoss is pretty consistent on all his tracks. If you are a fan of rap music, this album is a must buy. If you are a fan of Subnoize, you won't be dissapointed, though it doesn't match up to Dirtball's "Raptillion" or Potluck's "Straight Outta Humboldt". Good for cruisin around, good beats and witty, though sometimes outrageous, lyrics.

U.S.A. = Great,
By Max Power "Max" (Birmingham, AL, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Unconformable Social Amputees (Audio CD)
Saint Dog, one of Suburban Noize Record`s O.G.s, returns with his long awaited follow up to Ghetto Guide. U.S.A. is IMO not only Saint`s best album to date, but also one of Sub Noize`s best albums. Saint more than stepped up his game on this album, which is great from start to finish. U.S.A. uses the same formula as Ghetto Guide, but stronger musically. Choice cuts: Subnoize Anthem, Get Gone, Down 4 Whatever, Stand Up, Reaper, and Hip Hop Punk Rock(Gangsta Lean). I highly recommend that everyone get U.S.A. If you want great underground hip hop, then this cd will satisfy your need.
