Book Description

A critically-acclaimed teen thriller series!

"A Modern Day Katniss..." Reel Life with Janearticle.

Award-winning books and young adult author! Untraceable and Uncontrollable have been teen best sellers, making many of the top young adult best seller lists including: Best Debut, Movers and Shakers, Top 100 in Thrillers, and the Top 100 in Teen Action Adventure books.

Unstoppable #3 (coming Spring '14)

SOMETIMES THE THING YOU TRY TO SAVE...IS WHAT CAN KILL YOU

Nature girl, Grace, recovers from her tragedy, her science class is chosen by Agent Sweeney at the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to help with conservation and research on the new "Red Wolf Reintroduction Program".

While she’s excited about helping with the conservation of the endangered wolves, Grace knows this means being outdoors in the worst winter on record, in a place she no longer feels safe. It also means working closely with Wyn (her ex) and Skyler (his annoying girlfriend), a indoor girl whose idea of getting close to nature is killing two silk plants and watering a cactus.

After a couple of wolves show up dead, Grace almost quits. However, when a fellow project team member goes missing, Grace continues the assignment under a renewed suspicion that someone might be sabotaging the conservation program. Facing wild animals, threatening temperatures, and ghosts of the past, she quietly begins to hunt for clues.

Little does she know, she is being hunted too.

Kirkus Reviews called this teen series "a dramatic entanglement of mystery, deception and teen romance." While Reader's Favorite awarded Untraceable with a Bronze medal in young adult books and said they loved the action adventure mixed with "a message of wildlife conservation."

This teen series for girls has it all: teen romance, action adventure, and mystery all backdropped by the Smoky Mountains. The young adult book also provides fun wilderness survival tips so readers can investigate with Grace along the way. The twists and turns will create mystery and suspense that will keep you guessing until the very end.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"This thrilling story is a dramatic entanglement of mystery, deception and teen romance.  The action flows like a brisk mountain stream interspersed with rapids, holding suspense to last page."
Kirkus Review

"Grace is a spunky, independent, nature girl who doesn't need a boy to save her. With wilderness survival, a juicy love triangle, and more twists and turns than a roller coaster, this fast-paced novel had me holding my breath until the very last page--and still begging for more!" - Kimberly Derting (author of the popular Body Finder series)

Johannes has done a marvelous job of creating a suspense-filled mystery with surprises that keep you guessing all the way to the end. Untraceable is a thoroughly engrossing and riveting page-turner."- IndieReader

"This story is action-packed and very funny in some parts. There is even a bit of young romance...There is a strong message of wildlife conservation, so it is somewhat educational in that aspect." Reviewed by Molly Burkemper for "Readers Favorite"

2009 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Quarterfinalist (under the original title of Grace Under Fire) - Judges Reviews:

"This story starts out with a bang...it reads like the young woman were narrating it to a friend, and had the ring of a young person's style and intensity. Original in premise and style, and good use of background...Good story!" - Sue Grafton, author of bestselling Kinsey Milhone series

"This murder mystery .. moves along at a brisk clip, and it feels as if we already have some important clues. We look forward to seeing what's in the case file and what Grace and her motorbike, Luci, will be up to next." - Sue Monk Kidd, author of Secret Life of Bees

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Read September 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Uncontrollable picks up about 3 months after Untraceable left off. If you haven't read Untraceable yet, you will really want to before your read Uncontrollable. Grace is still recovering from her summer tragedy. After her father disappeared, she was determined to find him, and in the process met an awesome hottie named Mo, was attacked by a poacher named Al, and infiltrated a bear poaching criminal ring. She did find her father, who everyone thought was dead, only to lose him again. To add to the tragedy, she was also told that her new love, Mo, was killed in the firefight that took place. Her best friend Wyn was so upset with her for lying to him that he refused to speak to her, and now 3 months later, he still doesn't acknowledge her presence. He is just all hung up on his girlfriend Skyler, who hangs all over him, literally. To top it off, the whole town acts like they blame Grace and are mad at her, instead of being proud of her for helping to bust up the poaching operation. Forced to sit behind Wyn and Skyler in class and suppress her gag reflex, Grace is excited to see her friend Agent Sweeny from the US Fish and Wildlife Service enter and begin to tell the class about a new program for endangered wolves called The Red Wolfe Reintroduction Program. Agent Sweeny offers anyone in the class who wants to, the chance to participate. Much to everyone's surprise, considering everything she had been through, Grace was the first to volunteer. She knew it was time to get back into the woods. She was, after all, her father's daughter.

Needles to say, this got Wyn's attention, and he also volunteered, then Skyler volunteered as well, along with three other from the class.

5.0 out of 5 stars Broke my heart and fell in love at the same time! January 9, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
S.R. Johannes does it again (minus my ridiculous crying). I fell in love with Untraceable and it broke my heart at the same time. I actually can't believe it's already been ten months since I read the first book. I want to thank the author for not only asking me to be a part of her blog tour but also sending me a copy of the second book to read and review. I've been so busy with books to read that I've finally gotten a moment to read this book. I finished it in less than 12 hours (including a few hours of sleep and watching the Voice in there) - so that just shows you how addicting the book is. I fell in love with her characters, her world and the wildlife in the woods of North Carolina. Was curious as to how she would get Grace back out in to the wilderness after that happened to her in the first book. She is a girl of nature and there's no keeping someone away from something they're so passionate about. It took some time but she went back out there and this time instead of protecting bears, it's the near extinct red wolves that she's out to protect. I have a soft spot for wolves so I was eager to dive right in.

Grace is still hurting from many losses in Untraceable and the fact that her best friend (and ex-boyfriend), Wyn, swore he'd never talk to her at the end of Untraceable and he's been sticking to his word. He's all over Skyler and ignores that Grace even exists. Grace is jealous and hurt. She needed him more than ever these past few months and he pretends like she's not even there. You can't help but want to do two things. First being giving a Grace a huge hug and telling her you're there for her and second, knocking Wyn upside his head. He needs a swift hit to the head to set him straight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Action packed Adventure awaits! September 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Let's start with the cover : It's Beautiful! and perfectly fits with the series! Vania has done a wonderful job on both this one and the Untraceable cover I heart them so much :)

S.R. Johannes does an amazing job of weaving this story into something incredible ... Where I loved the first one for the same reason, this story steps it up a notch. I love how she makes it so that you questions EVERYONE! I never know who is good and who is not. When I come to the conclusion that one thing is going on... BAM I'm left with your mouth hanging open and thinking that was masterful!

Grace : She is still reeling with everything she has lost... but she is trying to get back into her life. She throws herself into a project thinking this will help. There is nothing about her that I don't like. She is a strong female character with flaws and all. She is a quick thinker and protects her friends/family with all she has.

The other characters are amazing all in their own ways. None of them are "flat" they are each well developed throughout the story.

I went as I was reading feeling all the things that Grace did... from her overwhelming sadness from having lost 2 men that she loved to all the terrifying things she has to deal with. I cannot tell you much more without giving all the things away, and you know I just won't do that :)

GET THIS if you Love/like Romance, Intrigue, suspense or adventure... roll them all together and you have
Uncontrollable!

The second in the Nature of Grace series is absolutely awesome. Actually I've just finished the last in the series and now have to wait much too long (Nov. 2013) for book #4. It's supposedly a teen series but I'm so far from teenage it isn't funny. It's for anyone who wants to read some GREAT books!
