Minor possible spoilers!!!!

I have enjoyed all of the Chrissy McMullen books but this one takes things to a new level. In this book, Lois Greiman takes a risk and doesn't give us as much Rivera but gives us more Chrissy. Chrissy doing things on her own and figuring out what she really wants and how she feels. I miss the Rivera/Chrissy action (don't worry, it's still there - there just isn't as much of it) but this books allows the characters to develop and the plotlines to shift for the next book. The risk Greiman takes really pays off here and offers tremendous momentum for the next book!

I always enjoy the interaction between Laney and Chrissy but this book also lets us revisit Mickey and LaVonn which was wonderful. I love what Greiman did with LaVonn and I hope we see much more of her! This is a must read for fans of the series and for anyone who likes great dialogue and entertaining characters!

I can't wait for the next book!

On an unrelated note, I loved the early Plum books but hated books 13 on and this book really reminds me of "One for the Money" but maybe more "One for the Money Grows Up". I really wish Janet Evanovich would learn from Lois Greiman and take the same kind of chance with the Plum series that Greiman does with this one. Characters can't grow if they can't change.

I just love this series. A host of great side characters, engaging main characters, humor galore, kookiness and a good mystery - just the way I like it!

4--1/2 stars: This book was classic Chrissy McMullen complete with her sass, witt and hilarious one-liners. Oh, and let's not forget the heat between her and Rivera, though sadly, he is not in the book as much as I would have liked, but definitely as much as he could be given the premise of the storyline. It's great that Greiman has written another book in this series and I hope she continues to write more. However, the fact that this book was self-published is evident in the very poor Kindle formatting and somewhat spotty proofing. Just a word of warning to those buying the kindle edition, every few paragraphs are indented so far that it sticks out glaringly, then several paragraphs will be back at the left margin and this goes back and forth throughout the entire book. It was quite distracting. Also, there was several instances of missing words, double words, missing punctuation. Considering Ms. Greiman decided to charge as much for this book as the major publishers charge for most of the kindle versions of their mass market paperbacks (in other words, $7.99), I expected the formatting and proofing to be as good as those from the major publishers. However, I did not take price and poor formatting into consideration when rating the book. The story itself is spot on and fans of the Chrissy McMullen series should be very happy with this newest addition to this fabulous series.

Uncorked by Lois Greiman

Chrissy McMullen is a lovable, sassy, sexy heroine who has a difficult time keeping her cactus alive but no problem wielding a gun or kicking her assailant in the face with her spiked heels. She will fight, literally, to help someone she loves. In Uncorked she's fighting to prove dark and sexy, Lieutenant Jack Rivera of the LAPD is innocent of attempted murder.

Chrissy tells Rivera she's moved on from their relationship, since she caught him with another woman, to a new boyfriend, what's-his-name. Really, she can't remember his name. Maybe because he's so important. No, wait, it's Marcus.

Rivera storms into Chrissy's LA psychologist office, the cops hot on his trail. He wants to make sure Chrissy hadn't shot Jackson Andrews', a man from her past who wanted her dead. Then the lieutenant is arrested. More or less on her own, but with some help from the characters in her past and no help from the senator (Rivera's father), she breaks the case wide open, leaving bodies in her wake.

Do McMullen and Rivera love each other? Damn straight! But their game is to ignore the fire, ignore their attraction, ignore that Rivera is in jail accused of shooting someone who wanted Chrissy dead.

I was on the edge of my seat, turning the pages (or rather pressing the button on my e-reader) as fast as possible. They are one sexy duo who has the reader breathing faster with every word. Once I began reading Uncorked, I couldn't put it down. Plan an all-nighter, Chrissy-style, but leave Francois in his drawer, or not, your call.

Check out Lois' web page: [...].com for more information on her stories. Chrissy McMullen even has her own facebook page, so fun!

Chrissy is hysterical when she tries to forget Jack Rivera and move on to a relationship with a psychiatrist whose name she just can't seem to remember. We never really meet him except via a phone conversation with Chrissy, but that's no loss - the dude seems boring.

Great book!
