Pirates. Sexy pirates. Criminal, sexy pirates. Did I mention PIRATES?! If there’s one thing I love, its a cocky, demanding, dirty talking pirate - and boy did I get one in this book. This book was a surprise to me, while the synopsis drew me in, the cover did not. I was unsure what I was going to get - and boy am I glad that I didn’t judge it by its cover as I was first inclined to. If I had, I wouldn’t have met Ellie and Nick, two very memorable characters. Linda Barlow does a great job of blending the unsavory lifestyles of piracy with the history of artifacts, particularly focused on the missing treasure of Troy. I found it to be extremely interesting and not too over the top. Some books can get carried away on the backstory, but that wasn’t the case in this one and that really pleased me.

Ellie Heath has a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. While vacationing in Turkey, she heads out to enjoy her love of photography and capture some beautiful early morning shots of the sunrise over the ocean. Never in her wildest dreams does she expect to be witness to a crime...or to photograph said crime. When she realizes the yacht at the dock is making an illegal exchange of artifacts, her ethics and morality overcome her sense of self preservation and she captures the entire exchange as quietly as possible. Unfortunately for her, she isn’t as stealthy as she might have hoped and the images on film aren’t the only thing that gets captured..

Nick can’t believe it when they pull the tiny, red-haired beauty from her hiding spot. This is the spy? While his client demands her life for her indiscretion, he cannot bring himself to do it. Instead, he takes her as his captive, determined to have his fill of her before her releases her safely.

Pirates, pirates, pirates! How I love a sexy, domineering pirate. And Nick is the perfect pirate hero. Two parts bad boy, one part swoonworthy good, he isn’t so bad that you wonder what the heroine is thinking by falling in lust with him. I loved the setup, the backstory about the illegal smuggling of antiquities, the beautiful location, and the characters. All bundled together, they create one delicious read that I could not put down. I’m just sorry it’s over!

I received an ARC eBook in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book I have read by Linda Barlow and it won't be my last! This romantic suspense was filled with adventure, action, a touch of BDSM and lots of romantic passion! Ellie is a heroine that has to face her fears to survive and is rewarded with finding a beautifully flawed hero to love. Nick is the total package: sexy, strong, passionate and just the right amount of possessive! Yes, there is some profanity (lots of f-bombs), but it is in keeping with the smuggler's world the author is painting for us. I thoroughly enjoyed it and couldn't put it down! I just had to find out what would happen next!

Don’t judge a book by its cover. This saying definitely applies to Linda Barlow’s UNCOVER ME. Who would expect a semi-dark modern day pirate romance when looking at this cover? Me definitely not! Usually one who DOES only read books with an appealing cover, I am really glad to have given Nick and Ellie a chance. Their story is different – refreshing – and I loved everything about it. This is the first book by Linda Barlow I’ve read, but I am sure it won’t be my last.

Ellie Heath loves Turkey. She is there on a photographing mission when she accidentally stumbles upon an exchange. Of course she takes pictures of it – only to realize that she was witnessing a crime. But it’s too late. The criminals have already discovered her. Most of the men want her dead, but luckily one of them, Nick, decides to take her hostage on his yacht instead – as long as she submits to him completely in order to show her loyalty.
But as soon as they arrive on a small and relatively unknown island everything changes. Ellie meets Nick’s villain – and it turns out that he might be an even greater threat to her life and safety than Nick…

In order to survive Ellie needs to face her worst fears, which she does with bravery: She is strong and smart – determined to overrule her fear – and eventually her captivity. She definitely does not count on being rewarded with love – to no one less than her captor.

Nick is sexy and possessive – and a criminal. But there’s so much more to him than the eyes can see. Nick’s layers are slowly being peeled back one by one – I thought I have finally figured him – out, only to be disabused shortly after. He is one amazing mysterious captor!

Linda Barlow is completely new to me and I have to say I was hooked on wanting to read this from the blurb, so I was really happy that the book lived up to my expectations.

I really enjoyed Uncover Me; it has a big mix of action, suspense, captivity, romance, knowledge, history and a story different to what I've come across lately. Which all when added into the pot make for great reading ingredients.

I absolutely loved Ellie, she's strong yet has vulnerabilities, she's capable and determined but rational fears often hold her back. She finds herself having to act the submissive to Nick and his family but her Inner Monologue on many occasions had me grinning from ear to ear. Some of what she is subjected to errs towards dark-ish, but this reads for me very much on the lighter side of dark, I actually would have been happy if this had gone darker. Nick and Metin made for great Captors. Metin who is quietly in the background and Nick in his full on Captor/Master mode. He has you one minute wanting to kick him the gonads for what he does to Ellie and then has you wanting to cuddle him when you see a different side to him. And I cannot write a review without mentioning Nigel! Oh my as far as baddies go he makes a perfect one!

Some might argue that the outcome is predictable and yeah it kinda is, but how Uncover panned out and got to the conclusion made for a very good read indeed. The text flowed, the plot flowed and I have to say for me it was definitely Ellie's monologue that was main ingredient that sated me, her whole personality really, I really, really got Ellie ☺.

I received a copy of Uncover Me in return for an honest review, my reviews are my own and are 100% honest.
