Book Description

ELLIE: All I did was take a few pictures. I didn't realize I was witnessing a crime. I was hoping for a kick-ass adventure when I set off on my dream vacation. Instead, I've fallen in with a ruthless band of thieves.

Kidnapped, bound, and ordered to submit, I'm stuck on a sailboat with the sun-bronzed pirate who caught me photographing his antiquities-smuggling operation. He doesn't want me tagging along any more than I want to be here. But that hasn't stopped him from finding a use for me.

NICK: She thinks I'm hard-assed. Dominating. Cruel. But I've got a dirty job to do. It has required months of scheming, a billionaire's yacht, and a shitload of priceless stolen artifacts.

I'm not about to be distracted by one inconvenient redhead. Even if she is supremely screwable and oh-so-sweet when I have her on her knees. I can't allow her to mess up my plans. She might not like the way I'm treating her, but she'd better get used to it. There's no place in my life for softer emotions, and no space in my body for a heart.

UNCOVER ME is capture fantasy and semi-dark romance. While not excessively violent, its strong language and sexual situations are intended for mature audiences.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Your Usual Dark Romance August 18, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Uncover Me has a different setting than a lot of dark or MC romances. It's about the stolen antiquity trade, and it takes place in the Aegean on a small island that might be related to the ancient legends of the Trojan War. The heroine, a photographer, falls into the hands of the smugglers after they catch her documenting an illegal exchange. The gang wants her dead. But Nick, the hero, decides to keep her alive as long as she demonstrates her loyalty by acting submissive to him.

As soon as they get to the island and meet the villain, things get complicated. Is Nick really who he claims to be? Can Ellie cope with her crippling claustrophobia in a dark cavern? Will Nick and Ellie ever learn to trust each other? The suspense kept me riveted.

Really interesting and different...recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Sexy, Modern Day Pirate Adventure!! August 18, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I received an ARC eBook in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book I have read by Linda Barlow and it won't be my last! This romantic suspense was filled with adventure, action, a touch of BDSM and lots of romantic passion! Ellie is a heroine that has to face her fears to survive and is rewarded with finding a beautifully flawed hero to love. Nick is the total package: sexy, strong, passionate and just the right amount of possessive! Yes, there is some profanity (lots of f-bombs), but it is in keeping with the smuggler's world the author is painting for us. I thoroughly enjoyed it and couldn't put it down! I just had to find out what would happen next!

Pirates. Sexy pirates. Criminal, sexy pirates. Did I mention PIRATES?! If there’s one thing I love, its a cocky, demanding, dirty talking pirate - and boy did I get one in this book. This book was a surprise to me, while the synopsis drew me in, the cover did not. I was unsure what I was going to get - and boy am I glad that I didn’t judge it by its cover as I was first inclined to. If I had, I wouldn’t have met Ellie and Nick, two very memorable characters. Linda Barlow does a great job of blending the unsavory lifestyles of piracy with the history of artifacts, particularly focused on the missing treasure of Troy. I found it to be extremely interesting and not too over the top. Some books can get carried away on the backstory, but that wasn’t the case in this one and that really pleased me.

Ellie Heath has a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. While vacationing in Turkey, she heads out to enjoy her love of photography and capture some beautiful early morning shots of the sunrise over the ocean. Never in her wildest dreams does she expect to be witness to a crime...or to photograph said crime. When she realizes the yacht at the dock is making an illegal exchange of artifacts, her ethics and morality overcome her sense of self preservation and she captures the entire exchange as quietly as possible. Unfortunately for her, she isn’t as stealthy as she might have hoped and the images on film aren’t the only thing that gets captured..

Nick can’t believe it when they pull the tiny, red-haired beauty from her hiding spot. This is the spy? While his client demands her life for her indiscretion, he cannot bring himself to do it. Instead, he takes her as his captive, determined to have his fill of her before her releases her safely.

5.0 out of 5 stars oooh arrr me heartys! September 2, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Nick and Ellie were a great couple! He was trying to train her to be a slave, a submissive. I say trying, Ellie wasn’t a natural submissive!! She had a sassy mouth, particularly when she sussed out a few things about Nick.

Nick, the unlikely hero. I say unlikely because when you read this book, I think you will agree with me that the hero who saves the day isn't Nick but..... oooh can't tell you! He started off a bit intimidating for Ellie, but then softened, he actually only wanted to protect Ellie.

The bit that actually made me laugh (and probably the bit where all the female readers say dirty b@stard lol) was what Nick did to Ellie while she was tied up!! Maybe I won’t be the only one to smile and say bullseye!!

Throughout this book, when I thought I had worked out what was going on, the author threw a curve ball and took me by surprise!

It was a very intelligently written story. Descriptive but not to the point of distraction. The author took me on a journey of intrigue, kidnapping, stolen artefacts, history, family feuds and threw in lots of twists and turns to keep me guessing until the end.

I read this book in one sitting, it was THAT good.

5 stars from me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting and suspenseful August 18, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
She didn't expect her fantasy vacation would turn into a nightmare.
He never dreamed a girl would come along at the last minute and ruin things.
Nick and Ellie's accidental meeting throws them both into confusion. With a side of lust.
If you act like a bad guy, will you turn into one? If pretend to submit to save your life, will submission grow on you? If you have panic attacks over imaginary threats, what happens when you've got something real to fear?
This book was impossible to put down.

Don’t judge a book by its cover. This saying definitely applies to Linda Barlow’s UNCOVER ME. Who would expect a semi-dark modern day pirate romance when looking at this cover? Me definitely not! Usually one who DOES only read books with an appealing cover, I am really glad to have given Nick and Ellie a chance. Their story is different – refreshing – and I loved everything about it. This is the first book by Linda Barlow I’ve read, but I am sure it won’t be my last.

Ellie Heath loves Turkey. She is there on a photographing mission when she accidentally stumbles upon an exchange. Of course she takes pictures of it – only to realize that she was witnessing a crime. But it’s too late. The criminals have already discovered her. Most of the men want her dead, but luckily one of them, Nick, decides to take her hostage on his yacht instead – as long as she submits to him completely in order to show her loyalty.
But as soon as they arrive on a small and relatively unknown island everything changes. Ellie meets Nick’s villain – and it turns out that he might be an even greater threat to her life and safety than Nick…

In order to survive Ellie needs to face her worst fears, which she does with bravery: She is strong and smart – determined to overrule her fear – and eventually her captivity. She definitely does not count on being rewarded with love – to no one less than her captor.

Nick is sexy and possessive – and a criminal. But there’s so much more to him than the eyes can see. Nick’s layers are slowly being peeled back one by one – I thought I have finally figured him – out, only to be disabused shortly after. He is one amazing mysterious captor!
