2.0 out of 5 stars Honest Criticism
I liked the first album better , because Flip was more determined and he had better concepts. His first album seemed like he put more work into it. Now the second album on the other hand , i have the tendancy to skip over alot of songs , because they sounded like freestyles . It doesn`t seem as if he put any emphasist on his lyrics . No doubt , im going to support all...

4.0 out of 5 stars REPRESENTIN THE SOUTH 4 SHO, June 3, 2003
This review is from: Undaground Legend (Audio CD)
This album is tight. The beats are good and Flip has a nice flow. The title of the album is definitely what Flip is, an Undaground Legend. David Banner and Bizzy Bone play a big role in this album. Flip, Bizzy & Banner make a [good] team. When you put them together in a song you will be surprised at how good the song will be. Most of the songs are good. The only standout tracks on this CD are: "The Way We Ball" and "I Shoulda Listened." "The Way We Ball" is kinda stupid.... "I Shoulda Listened" is more like a slow type of rap, almost like r&b. Besides those, the album is off the chain and will keep the songs in your head even when you're sleeping. I just hope Lil Flip keeps making gangsta albums. Not like other rappers that make popish albums, like Ja Rule, Nelly, and Fabolous. More like a 4.5.

Lil' Flip really suprised me with this album. After hearing "The Way We Ball," I didn't know what to expect but it's definitely worth the purchase. Check it out if you're a fan of the South or DJ Screw/The Screwed Up Click.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best rap album of 2002, October 3, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Undaground Legend (Audio CD)
This CD is some fire. The copy I got came with a boinus CD with 7 songs (3 of 'em were Screwed Up remixes) and it was so hot I didn't even bump the regular CD for todays cuz I was bumping the bonus CD. The regular CD is hott, with no wack songs on it and some surprisingly deep stuff for a guy who's famous for rapping about money, [...] and clothes.

This is truly a 5 star album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Undaground Legend, October 3, 2002
This review is from: Undaground Legend (Audio CD)
It's hard to categorize Houston hip-hop considering how the city's hometown hero, Scarface, reinvents himself with every album. Now Lil' Flip adds to the debate by taking on all styles on his Columbia Records debut, Underground Legend.
It's impossible to classify Flip's style, since he's continually flipping the script. He comes across like your least-favorite video game villain -- constantly disguising his identity so you can't defeat him. When Flip offers his "8 Rulez" to help a future hustler regulate the streets, it seems that he's given us a glimpse of his game. But rule number seven, "never sell crack where you stay," borrows from the Notorious B.I.G.'s "Ten Crack Commandments" where he warns us to "never sell crack where you rest at." Then Biggie's Brooklyn morphs into Cleveland where Flip and Bizzy Bone assert "We Ain't Scared" to those waging war in the backyard or the boardroom. Flip continues to embrace all rap regions when he trades trash talk with New Orleans' Juvenile on "I Can Do Dat" (where the former Cash Money Millionaire proves that he can still shine without his clique).

While Flip drops bombs with hip-hop's finest, he also sets off his Suckafree label's dynasty-in-the-making with such hard-hitting club creations as "The Way We Ball" and "7-1-3" -- tracks sure to raise the roof off of the Astrodome and the Compaq Center once he arrives home. Still, when all's said and done, Flip's impact isn't based on his thug celebrity, but on the changed man that expresses maturity on "Make Mama Proud," regret on "I Shoulda Listened," and his ability to hold down his homies on "R.I.P. Screw."

5.0 out of 5 stars H-Town's Finest, April 16, 2006
This review is from: Undaground Legend (Audio CD)
Lil' Flip came out with a masterpiece, earning Master cards, and introducing U 2 chamill, making his mama proud, telling u what he's been through, and showing he aint scared. I got this when it came out and been bumpin it ever since.
We Aint Scared, has Some Verses ON FIRE("so U Can Play Superman And get Your A$$ Paralyzed, Cuz When It Comes 2 My Guns their all Supersized)until bizzy bone's verse
713, brings us info on how h-town been living.
Make Mama Proud, I Shoulda Listened, What I Been Through,
Shows us the otherside of H-Town, with a passion coming from the best in his town.
This album is better than the fix, one star above everybody elses album in H-Town, and thats saying a lot, considering their holding it down.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Star Album Without A Doubt, April 8, 2006
This review is from: Undaground Legend (Audio CD)
Without a doubt this is a 5 star album, lil flip absolutely put it down on this album and although he didnt really get noticed until the gameover song or whatever this cd really was the blow up of lil flip and put him on the map. In my opinion this is one of the best albums of all time, period. Maybe not the best, but definately one of tops. Every song is really good and none are really skip through tracks, but...

5.0 out of 5 stars Undaground Legend, February 17, 2005
This review is from: Undaground Legend (Audio CD)
This album "went platinum with one video" for a reason. This is one of my favorite southern albums of all time. This album is much better than 'U Gotta Feel Me', so if you bought that and were disapointed, I would reccomend this if you're still slightly interested in Lil' Flip.

1.What I Been Through featuring Young Redd, Lil Ron & Big T-produced by Lil Flip & Tommy Granville Jr.-5/5-Great song, one of the best tracks on the CD production and lyric wise
2.U See It featuring Chamillion-produced by Lil Flip & Young Sears-5/5-More hot southern production and some nice wordplay
3.8 Rulez featuring Shasta-produced by Lil Flip & Kenoe-5/5-The chorus is like B.I.G.'s 'Ten Crack Commandments', and while the song isn't as good as big's its still pretty damn hot
4.I Shoulda Listened featuring Seville-produced by Lil Flip & Big Tyme-5/5-Slower song, but still great
5.7-1-3-produced by Lil Flip & Mr. Mixx-5/5-My favorite track on the CD, great lyrically and the production is straight fire
6.The Way We Ball-produced by Lil Flip, Kojack & Young Sears-5/5-The only single on the album, you've probably heard it
7.Get Crunk featuring Lil Ron, Young Redd & David Banner-3/5-The oxymoron in the chorus just makes this song hard to listen to ("if that ho wont let you f*** she a ho"), but its still pretty good
8.Haters Still Mad featuring Lil Ron & Big T-produced by Lil Flip & Kenoe-4.5/5-Hot flow on this one
9.We Ain't Scared featuring Bizzy Bone-produced by Lil Flip & Kenoe-5/5-Bizzy is probably my least favorite BTNH member, but he's great on the chorus, hot song
10.Make Mama Proud-produced by Lil Flip & Tommy Granville Jr.-5/5-A lot like 'I Shoulda Listened', but a little better
11.I Can Do Dat (Remix) featuring Juvenile & Skip-produced by Lil Flip & Big Tyme-5/5-By 2nd favorite song on the album, great production, and Juve, Flip & Skip's flows are great
12.Tonight featuring Seville-produced by Lil Flip & Slugger-4/5-Another very good slower song
13.What Y'all Wanna Do featuring David Banner & C-Note-produced by Lil Flip & David Banner-4/5-Better than the other David Banner guest apperance, but not as good as Banner & Flip's 'Like A Pimp'
14.It's A Fact-produced by Lil Flip & Young Sears-4.5/5-Some of the best production on the album, and Flip is good lyrically
15.R.I.P. Screw featuring Bizzy Bone-produced by Lil Flip & Joe Trax-5/5-Better than the other Bizzy apperance, and one of the best tracks on the CD
16.Forget The Fame-produced by Lil Flip & Chop Shop Productions-4/5-Very good song to end the album

Highly reccomended for any Texas/Southern rap fans

4.0 out of 5 stars Took His Time, March 21, 2004
By
This review is from: Undaground Legend (Audio CD)
Lil Flip Took his time with this album, since his last release, he has improved alot. Eventhough he has this lazy voice, his rhyme is great and he can freestyle. If you think different, he has freestyle sessions on radios that lasts like 20 minutes and he goes on and on and rhymes about good stuff. Not much on this CD you want to skip, Lil Flip really makes quality music so much of the CD i slistenable. Remix with Juvenile is great. Bizzy Bone was on the album but did very little, David Banner produced some great beats but adds little rapping talent. Young Buck from G-Unit appeared and was okay. But mostly this CD is a banger and you can listen to it again and again.
