Product Description

Life has been hard enough for Hank, finally after many years of working he escaped his past and started over in Denver. Securing a job as an auto mechanic was the first hurdle, soon he was accepted by the local crew and even moved into their well-kept lower class neighborhood, he even became the focus of a local conspiracy which felt that a single man of his standing should not be single at all. Things were looking up for him until the zombies came.

Now he, and his best friend Juan find themselves leading a rag tag group of survivors, but where is there to go? Everywhere they look more zeds are creeping out of the woodwork and the worst part of it all is that they are not all the mindless, shambling undead seen so often in the movies. These undead are cunning, some can even speak...or use guns.

1.0 out of 5 stars I really wish someone, anyone, had read and edited this, August 24, 2010

As a fan of zombie fiction, and fiction in general, and as a giant fan of my Kindle, I am pretty familiar with a lot of self-published authors and their works. One unfortunate characteristic that many of them share is the lack of any editing.

In his introduction, Mark thanks his wife for her support while writing the book.
His wife should have shown her support by hiring an editor, or even acting as an editor for him herself.

Mark: I beg you. Pay someone to edit your book. Hell, I will edit it for you for free. But it is so incredibly difficult to read your story through the massive amount of typos and problematic grammatical mechanics that I have to force myself to finish it. Your story isn't a bad one, but your writing is abysmal. I'm sorry for saying so, but it just can't be avoided. I would say this is the second worse written book I have ever read on the Kindle. Not story wise, but writing wise.

I would give it a higher ranking if the author were to fix the thousands of grammatical errors in his novel. Probably a three star, as I still felt the character development was very choppy in parts. Additionally, there was way too much repetition, and quite a lot of stereotypes.

I have not read his other books, and until such time as I can be assured that the editing of those books is significantly improved from his debut novel, I will not be spending the money or wasting my time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hard to read,, June 8, 2010

The plot concept is good.
That said I found that the spelling and grammer errors ruined the read.
I'm sorry but I also found the writing to be choppy. Some of the compairisons just seemed out of place and some sentences were repeated rendishions used to fill space.
I encourage Zombie fans to give it a try, it's just in my opinion I found the flow of the story to be semi non-existant.
But you don't have to take my word for it.

More About the Author

Mark Clodi (born March 30th, 1969) is the author of many zombie apocalypse novels and short stories. At an early age Mark was hooked on fantasy and the pulp fiction of the 'Golden Age of Science Fiction'. While moving around the mid-west with his parents he continued to feed his frenzied reading by buying fiction at yard sales and utilizing the local libraries. The thought of actually becoming a writer struck him at an early age, but he never followed through on his dream until he was much older and 'settled in' to a career as a computer programmer. His writing started one day while trading emails back and forth with Mike Keleman, the co-author of his first book. They started assigning chapter numbers to the emails and the rest, as they say, is history.

He lives in a small town in Iowa in the United States with his wife, two daughters, two dogs and two cats. On any given Saturday night no matter what the temperature, rain or shine, you can find him on the rough 'man-deck' behind his house grilling ribs, reading and listening to the radio by the light of a kerosene lantern.
