Book Description

Rebecca Stockdale had enough issues in her life; parents that hated her for the strange abilities that she had been born with, she was about to move away from her sister and only friend, Bev, and she had had a really bad date that would change her forever.
Just when she was about to escape the drama that she had always lived in, Richard, a vampyre, walked into her life and shattered her reality with one request; travel back in time to 1888 to stop a psychopathic vampyre bent on revenge and save the family she never knew she had.
She would be joined on her journey by a band of vampyre hunters. Hunters who, centuries ago, had vowed to slay all vampyres. A vow they set aside to protect the family that they had come to love, knowing that the outcome of that decision would be an eventual battle. A battle of decapitation and blood; a battle they may not survive.
She was leaving a life she would kill to get away from for a family she would gladly die to protect, but could she do it? Could she make it back alive? Did she possess the strength and courage it would take to change the past and save their future?
She was about to find out.

The Undead Heart is a tale of love, life, horror, humor and family and is the first novel in The Blood Thirst Series.

{The Undead Heart contains, sex, violence and adult language but is not an 'erotica novel', however, parental discretion is advised}

About the Author

About me? Huh? Well, my name is Tate Jackson and I wrote The Undead Heart for my niece, Beverly. I'm @#*^! years old and live in Clarksville, Tn. where the book is based. Most the characters in The Blood Thirst are named after my family and friends in my own life {Potter, Harley,Thomas and Bruce are my sons and Charley is my daughter} and I tried to make their descriptions accurate as possible {If you know the real Potter then you can't miss him in this book}. My best friend, Becky {and mother to Beverly} edited the book for me {and added a few tweaks. She even wrote one of the love scenes. See if you can tell which one!}. Let's see, what else? Oh, I tend to write on my back porch and usually with my MP3 player attached to my head. I write out the books by hand and then my best friend types them up and works her magic on them. The Undead Heart is 143,543 words and is a full size novel.

2.0 out of 5 stars interesting, but not original October 12, 2010
By R. Camp
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I realize that there are not many new things that you can add to vampire stories. A lot of the plot was very familiar. I thought the writing seemed somewhat juvenile. The main character often used profanity. Crude language is fine if it furthers the plot and fits the scene but this seemed just gratuitous. The main problem was that apparently NOBODY proofed this book before it was published - spelling and grammer mistakes abound. It was often painful to read. Then there is the ending. Wow - "to be continued" is for TV not for books. Probably not worth the money.

2.0 out of 5 stars Could use fine tuning October 16, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I was asked to give an honest review of this book.

Overall I thought the book was "ok." There needed to be more character development. For instance, Beck immediately warmed up to the idea of this vampire and accepted his explanation of them being married. BOOM. They were in bed together (even though she had a traumatic experience with being raped). The storyline also needed some developing as well. The beginning came quickly... the middle dragged on. There were pages and pages with nothing major happening.

Beck got on my nerves. Edward was way too jealous, ALL THE TIME. We waited until the VERY end for something to happen and then it was over and we were left with a cliffhanger.

I think the book was a tad bit too long, it took me some time to finish it. I wanted to like it, and at some points I did. But it could use some fine tuning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wasn't so sure but.... February 13, 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Allow me to start by saying that I do NOT write a lot of reviews. Not because I don't have strong feelings about many books I read, but because I am lazy and too focussed on getting to the next book I'm going to read to bother taking the time. So for me to actually take a moment out of my incredibly busy reading schedule to write a review... a book has to be pretty much so horrible that I am offended by its existence and need everyone to know... or I love it so much that I want to sleep with it under my pillow and caress it lovingly every so often long after I've finished reading it.

When I started this story, I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about it. It was pretty much "fact gathering" on our heroine. Not long and drawn out, just giving you the bare bones about her life up to the point where the real story begins. By page 36 I was hooked and telling my family to "SHOOSH I'M READING HERE!!!!"

For those who are a little picky about editing... there are a couple of typo's. You'll notice it, but it doesn't detract from anything and you'll only sell yourself short if you let that stop you from investing your time in this book.

I didn't hold out horribly high hopes for this book when I ordered it, but I am always up for trying out new authors who are giving it a go. This has occassionally backfired on me... SEVERELY! But this book made up for ALL THOSE TIMES! I absolutely LOVE every character. It was everything a story should be. Hilarious in so many ways (especially if you are southern or have ever met a southern woman and seen her mad!) incredibly touching at times, edge of your seat 'holy crap whats gonna happen next' in a few parts... it was amazing.

I really don't know what else to say other than you shouldn't have even gotten this far reading my review, you've wasted time reading this when you should have been reading Undead Heart. Go forth and order. You won't regret it!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Blood Thirst Initial Novel December 2, 2010
Rebecca Stockdale aka Beck is a very strong willed character and very intelligent. She has always been different in that she knows when someone is telling a lie, and she has an affliction with electricty. She doesn't feel sorry for herself when bad things happen to her. Her parents have hated her and never really supported her in anyway and even tried to interrupt her wedding. Thankfully she has a sister that is a few years older and wicked cool. When Beck is beaten up and ends up in the hospital thanks to a freaking dipwad, it is her sister that is there for her. I love the sisters relationship and how it remains strong throughout the story.

The chemistry between Richard, the vampire, and Becca is not unlike that of Cat and Bones of the Night Huntress series. There are plenty of fireworks when they have sex, and they have plenty of fights, because Richard wants to protect her from evil, and Becca believes she is fine without all the coddling. But, in the end, they are soul mates. Becca even has the ability as Richard's soulmate, to make his heart beat.

I liked the aspect of going back in time to explore Jack the Ripper and discovering who the killer really was. Becca, however, after going back as part of the Jack the Ripper time travel experiment, has other ideas. She wants to save Richards vampire family from Elderson.

I love the ending where Elderson demands that Becca come to him.
"Come to me," Elderson commanded, catching her gaze.
Beck asked Richard, "Is he trying to mesmerize me?"
"Yes, he is."
"That doesn't work with me, but I'll tell you what. If you want me so
badly, then come get me," she challenged.

Love it! Just like something Cat would say to Bones when being challenged by a ghoul or another vampire.

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable Story with Memorable Characters January 3, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I am going to preface this review with the fact that I requested this book from the author and received the first three books in the series with a request for my honest review without any compensation whatsoever, other than the joy of reading a new series. The synopsis gives a good overview of the storyline and I will not attempt to improve upon it. I really enjoyed the story, it is a unique take on vampyres and a wonderful adventure that takes us through history and back to the present, as well as introduces us to some very memorable characters. That being said, I do have to say that the book is very long, which I generally enjoy, but there are some significant editing issues and plot holes that were unfortunate. So be advised of this if is something you cannot get past, it will tarnish the enjoyment of the story. It is a good first effort, but should really be gone over again and changes made to move it up in the star ratings. The Undead Heart ends with somewhat of a cliffhanger, but as mentioned the next two installments are currently available, and my hope is some of the holes will be filled and that there will be improvement as the series continues.
