Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Based on Eva B. Pierrakos's channeling of "The Guide" between 1955 and 1979, which became part of her Pathwork material, this book aims to help readers seeking transformation. In a schema not unlike the id, ego, and superego, Thesenga pictures the three selves as the mask and the lower and higher selves. With the penetration of the mask (a distortion of the higher self), a confrontation occurs; but when the mask is removed, creative energy integrates good and evil, leading to a more unified, peaceful existence. Thesenga illustrates this transformation with personal examples from her life as well as the lives of participants in her Pathwork groups in Virginia and the District of Columbia. There are exercises and questions at each chapter's end, along with ideas for daily review. A summary and lists of the complete Pathwork lectures and various Pathwork locations conclude the book. Anyone interested in the "inner child" movement may well find this title of interest. For public libraries with large self-help and self-awareness collections.

This review is from: The Undefended Self: Living the Pathwork of Spiritual Wholeness (Pathwork Series, Series 1) (Paperback)
When I read The Undefended Self, I found it to be a really helpful tool on my path of self-transformation.

The book is well-written and easy to understand. The concepts it covers are important and profound. The exercises at the end of each chapter are a powerful opening to self-knowledge. I would recommend that anyone interested in self-development, or anyone suffering in life without understanding why, buy this book, read it and do all of the exercises. It really will change your life.

Susan Thesenga writes clearly in an honest and down-to-Earth way. This book has the capacity to change a life.

Although you can read this book any way you want, for me this wasn't a read it once and put it on the shelf kind of book.

Every time I've read it I've come away with another "Ah HA!" concerning the distortions and truths of my life. If you've found this book while browsing the web, I suggest it may have found you! Go for it!
