"I can't get you out of my mind, Kelly," Garth said. "I tried. I really tried. But I can't do it."

She couldn't bear his scrutiny another second. She spun, panicking, but she couldn't convince her traitorous legs to take her out of his house and away from him.

"I see you, feel you, taste you in my dreams," came his soft, husky voice dangerously close to her ear. Then his fingers touched her neck, pushing back her hair and brushing fire across her skin.

"Oh, Garth--" she whispered.

"I know you're scared." He trailed his hand down along her shoulder, prodding her to face him. "I'm scared too."

She turned and he touched her cheek with a tender stroke before dropping his hand to his side.

"You are?" She stared up at him.

"Scared to death," he admitted. "What I'm feeling right now is so powerful that I can't eat or sleep or breathe without thinking of you. I know we said we should keep our distance, but I can't...."
