Book Description

Rogue's Club July 1, 2002
Widowed, penniless Sabrina Whitcomb isn't looking for romance. What she needs is a husband, and she knows well enough that romance and matrimony aren't always compatible. While providing for her twins and the child she now carries is paramount, wedding a virtual stranger--even a wealthy one, like Gideon St. Goddard, Duke of Stanthorpe--is no light matter. Sabrina knows the friend who arranged the union would not promise her to a true scoundrel, but one look at her future husband convinces her that he is a shameless rogue. A shockingly handsome and desirable one, at that. Why has he agreed to marry her? When Gideon flashes that wicked, seductive smile, the reason hardly matters, but the chance that he'll steal her heart becomes all too real...

More About the Author

Dear Reader,

I finally became a full time writer in 2006 after retiring from my job as a Development Director. I didn't always know I wanted to be a writer, but I discovered Jane Eyre soon after I got my first library card. I was eleven and put a romantic spin on every story I read. I wrote romances about friends and their boyfriends. Racy stuff for which my friends' mother's did not thank me. I could title that time in my life 'THE FIRST TIME A GOODY TWO SHOES GETS IN TROUBLE-YAY!" When my children were young, I jotted plot ideas on corners of envelopes, recipe cards, and such, and threw them in my nightstand.

After discussing a romance novel with my high-school aged daughter, she challenged me to write a romance of my own. That day, I sorted through my plot ideas, picked one, and started. I didn't know what I was doing, but I had a good time. I made my first sale in 1998. I have since moved from Regency England and settled in twenty-first century Salem, Massachusetts; Newport, Rhode Island; Mystic, Connecticut; with mysteries and romances and a host of sassy, sexy witches who tantalize and torment the men in their lives. Hopefully those same characters will sprinkle some magic dust and get a laugh or three out of you.

I have recently seen the re-release of JACOB'S RETURN and BUTTERFLY GARDEN, both Amish Historicals set in Pensylvania & Ohio. Recently, my 4th Vintage Magic, a paranormal cozy mystery series, set in Mystic Connecticut, SKIRTING THE GRAVE followed the release of VAMPIRE DRAGON my 3rd Works Like Magick Novel set in Salem MA.

I'm currently working on my 6th Vintage Magic Mystery, OPERATION PETTICOAT, and the 1st SISTERS OF SPIRIT Anthology both due out next year (2012) along with CLOAKED IN MALICE, my 5th paranormal cozy mystery. Meanwhile, watch Kindle for a new series of magical books in the months to come.

Some of my favorite authors are: Ruth Cardello, Hannah Howell, Nora Roberts, Janet Evanovich, Linda Wisdom & Madelyn Alt.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartfelt Story of Romance, Love and the Special Bonds of Family!, December 31, 2011
By
I read all Annette Blair's books, and Undeniable Rogue is a favorite. Set in Regency England, it is full of her trademark humor, warmth and lovable characters. The hero, Giddeon St. Goddard, is a kind-hearted rogue who turns a group of misfits into a family. The ending satisfies and lingers long after the book is closed, with a surprise thrown in for good measure. This is a story you will devour and at the end be left with a warm, happy feeling. A must for all Annette Blair fans, and for those of you who haven't yet experienced her books, what are you waiting for?

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!, August 21, 2002
By
This review is from: An Undeniable Rogue: The Rogue's Club (Paperback)
Gideon St. Goddard, Duke of Stanthorpe, had held his best friend, Hawksworth, on the battlefield of Waterloo as he died. Gideon promised to wed his friend's sister, Sabrina, and take care of her. But Gideon had not understood that Sabrina Whitcomb was the sister-in-law. Sabrina was also a widow, had twin (four year old) boys, and was VERY pregnant! Even so, Gideon lost his heart to them all upon sight.

Gideon quickly found out what a lovely woman Bree was, inside and out. Her deceased husband had been cruel to her and the boys. She married to provide for her children ... and hide from an evil man that still searched for her. Gideon knew it would take a lot of patience to earn the trust of the mother and the twins. But earn it he would!

***** AWESOME! To call this story incredible would be an understatement. I read the book twice. This is a hero worth dreaming about! Not the average hero in a book that the heroine had to win over. Not the average heroine that had one or two minor problems that seem to get out of proportion. Nope, the roles have been reversed! The heroine has several secrets and most are huge, and dangerous. The hero has to win the heroine and the twins over. I enjoyed this tale thoroughly! Highly recommended reading to all! Do not miss this title.

On a side note, Annette Blair if you read this, know that you have a new fan in me! Write faster! *****

5.0 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST!!!!, November 2, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: An Undeniable Rogue: The Rogue's Club (Paperback)
AN UNDENIABLE ROGUE is one of the best romances I've ever read! I finished it in a day, totally glued to the pages! It is the story of two people who need to learn to trust, and love. A very pregnant Sabrina Whitcomb is widowed and penniless, running and hiding from someone evil and cruel, from a past she is ashamed of. As her dear friend and brother-in-law lays dying at the Battle of Waterloo, he makes one final request, and asks his friend, Gideon St. Goddard, Duke of Stanthorpe, to pledge to marry and protect her. Gideon returns to London to wed his unkown bride-to-be, not knowing what to expect. Certainly not such a ravishing beauty, not a woman due to deliver a babe in 2 weeks, and especially not such an innocent, in spite of her delicate condition.

What did I love about the story? Everything! The list can go on and on. Mainly I loved the love story, the development of a relationship based on trust and caring that blossoms into true love. I adored the hero ... Gideon was kind and tender, understanding and at times surly, complimentary and sensitive, responsible and generous, sexy and... and he had such a wit about him, from what he thought to what he said, that I found myself smiling or chuckling at almost every page, especially in the first half of the book during his most frustrating moments with his new bride. He was a dream hero, and the way he fell in love with Sabrina's new babe was so heartwarming as to bring tears to the eye! The birthing scene was amazing ... really so well written, and Gideon came through to save the day!

Sabrina had a cruel past with men, and she really needed to learn to trust in order to let go of her fears for herself and her family, and to allow herself to lose the control she held onto like a lifeline,  and thus lose her heart to Gideon. She had many secrets she was keeping from Gideon, amongst them, two particularly important ones which he discovers on his own. I won't reveal any spoilers because the discovery is too much fun for the reader ... but once again, Gideon came through like a knight in shining armor and made me smile and feel all warm and fuzzy inside! The secondary characters in the story add dimension and humor, as well as allowing the hero and heroine to discover more about themselves and each other through their interaction with them.

The sexual tension between Gideon and Sabrina was palpable. There was such tenderness in the intimate scenes, that again, Gideon stood out as an exceptional and extremely sensitive man. Annette writes some scenes that, IMO, were more intimate in certain ways than many of the steamiest scenes I've ever read in romance. They were intimate in a "soul-touching" way. To me, the way Gideon worshipped Sabrina's very ripe and pregnant body, finding her beautiful and Goddess-like was extremely intimate. The way he liked just sleeping with her naked in his arms, their bodies intertwined, before ever having consummated their marriage, that was very intimate to me. And his repeated joy in watching the infant suckling at her breast was also extremely intimate ... not in a sexual way, but in an a bonding sort of way. A private and personal way. And yes, in a worshipping way. (...) I believe many women who have nursed their babies as I did, and also had a close bond with their husbands, might really understand and connect very well with that scene, that extremely intimate moment ... smile knowingly, and find it very touching. It is a scenario not many authors will touch upon ... as some readers who have never been there might think "Ewww!" But I could connect with that, and thought it was so beautiful!

Beyond the outstanding love story, there was also danger lurking. Evil in Sabrina's past that threatens to destroy all the security and hope and love she has found in the arms of Gideon. One that will destroy her family and her new home. I found myself on the edge of my seat toward the conclusion of the book, while I applauded the ending!

I can't wait to start the sequel, AN UNFORGETTABLE ROGUE!"
