5.0 out of 5 stars Under Armour Cold Gear, September 18, 2008
By

I have one of these shirts that I use for rugby practice and games. I love the Under Armour brand, both for the quality of their products and top-notch athletic styling. It's not too clear on the Amazon page about the different fits of UA stuff, but this shirt is definitely the compression style fit. Meaning it's a very snug, second-skin type of fit, great for layering under shirts or sweatshirts. My only gripe is that I'm quite a bit taller than average, so the sleeves are a bit short and it's tough to keep the bottom of the torso from creeping up while running around. For most people, I doubt this would be a problem. It's the "Cold Gear" line, which means the material is a little thicker and heavier (and more expensive) vs. the "Heat Gear" line. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works as advertized, May 30, 2009
You'd think that something as thin as this wouldn't keep you warm, but in March 2009 I was in Kansas City, MO for a conference. I had this as a base layer and wore a good windbreaker on top of it, some thick gloves to protect my hands, and reflective toque. It was 18 degrees F at 5am and I went for a run in KC from my hotel to the Liberty Memorial and back, total of 3.4 miles. This, along with my Under Armour Cold Gear Action Legging Mens, kept me warm.

If you run in cold weather, anywhere from 55 degrees to about 18 degrees, and you have a solid windbreaker, gloves, a nice warm hat, and this as a base layer, you'll be fine.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for sports, but not much more., November 6, 2005
I work outdoors year around refueling airplanes at an airport. I was looking for something to keep me warm than was not bulky. The under aurmor is skin tight and very light weight.

My job consists of spurts of high-paced physical work, followed by short periods of waiting (standing still.) While I'm working hard, it keeps me very warm, but it becomes very cold when I slow down and it does not block the wind at all. It also becomes very uncomfortable after a few hours.

It is a great buy for being physically active for a half hour or so then taking it off, but it is not coat; its not made for being worn outside for nine hours.
