Book Description

Romance September 4, 2009

In high school, Jake Trevelyan was Cassie Grey's dream rebel. He surfed, rode a motorbike--now he's her new boss!

It's events planner Cassie's job to transform Jake's mansion into a snow-kissed wedding venue. Not to relive her old fantasy they're the ones getting married.

Posing as the happy couple for a publicity photo shoot, Cassie pinches herself as Jake leans in for a show-stopping kiss...but it's just for the cameras, isn't it?

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 blue ribbons from Romance Junkies, November 10, 2009
Cassie Grey was an impressionable teenager with stars in her eyes for Rupert, a good looking, charming local boy. She did everything in her power to garner his attention including flirting with Jake which resulted in the heart stopping kiss she's never forgotten. It's been ten years since that fateful encounter and Cassie's grown up - klutzy as ever and working as a wedding planner. The last thing she expects is to be thrust back into contact with Jake who needs help transforming Portrevick Hall into a wedding venue.

Jake Trevelyan was a high school rebel on the fast track to nowhere until fate intervened and he was given the opportunity to make something of himself thanks to the generosity of Sir Ian, Rupert's uncle. Jake's given up his surfing and motorcycle riding in favor a tame `reasonable' existence. If it wasn't for his promise to oversee Sir Ian's estate until Rupert proves himself responsible enough to not waste his inheritance Jake would never set foot back in the town of Portrevick.

Cassie comes from a family of overachievers so the fact that she hasn't gone to college or become `successful' like her brothers and sisters makes her feel like a failure of sorts. She desperately wants to make a success of her new endeavor as a wedding planner but the discovery that her new client is Jake is definitely disconcerting. She's determined to help Jake make Portrevick Hall into a wedding venue even though she's never done anything like this before. Cassie can't deny a certain attraction to Jake even though she's well aware that she's the exact opposite of his ideal woman. What brings Cassie and Jake together is her attempt at promotion. It's her idea for Jake and his girlfriend Natasha to provide the human interest angle... unfortunately Natasha has left Jake. Cassie agrees to pose as Jake's love interest for the Christmas themed wedding shoots but she can't help but wish that her private fantasy could become reality.

Jessica Hart brings the holiday spirit to readers in plenty of time for Christmas with her newest release UNDER THE BOSS'S MISTLETOE. Cassie and Jake's relationship is compounded by emotions that they never dealt with from their youth. There's a sense of self discovery and newfound understanding between them that resonates throughout this story. What I found particularly fascinating was how while Cassie and Jake grew up and matured, Rupert never did and he remains as selfish and self-centered as ever. UNDER THE BOSS'S MISTLETOE is a fun read that made me smile and chuckle at Cassie's misconstrued opinion of herself and fall in love with Jake for being able to see what makes her so special. Gotta admit, there's nothing quite as sexy as a reformed bad boy
