From Booklist

Titled for the Spokane skate park where Tate and his younger, rebellious, and more talented brother, Indy, practice in hopes of turning pro, this is a gritty, realistic look at problems in a working-class neighborhood. After one too many squabbles about skipping school, Indy gets kicked out of the house and takes shelter with a fearless drug dealer. Tate’s usual role is that of peacemaker, but when his anger becomes insurmountable, he finds himself looking for fights. When Tate learns that Indy may have been involved in a drug deal gone wrong, he reluctantly turns to guidance counselor Ms. Potter, who helps him discover that there are more ways to fight a problem than with fists. After getting Indy to recognize his dreams in life, Tate then tries to realize his own. Despite profuse swearing, this quick-paced novel with a touch of romance never delves too harshly into the issues at hand and offers an uplifting (and even a bit too tidy) ending. Grades 9-12. --Angela Leeper

Michael Harmon's books are targeted for the mid-level teen, judging from his writing. I'm nearly an adult, and despite the simple language, I really enjoy is books. He has interesting plots and I like his characters. This is mu second favorite Harmon book, because Tate and Indy and co. are some of the best characters Harmon has come up with. I really liked each guy for their characteristics. The story was good too. I found myself caring for the guys and reading way past my preferred sleep time.

The pace is quick and you dont have to worry about losing interest in the plot. A quick and fun read.

Ok this is a great book but there are a lot of characters. I have only read half the book so far and I can't put it down. I highly recommend this book if you like skateboarding and/or your a lost youth with crazy parents. Also check our the arthurs other books I have read skate and the one that came out after skate (the one with the kid that has gay father) and they are really good

A must read for many troubled young adults. This book relates well to issues (with solutions) that a number of out young people face today. Courage, empathy, and understanding are traits exemplified in the book.
