My review is based on a refurbished product that I won in an online auction for much lower price. I am very satisfied with the product considering the amount I have paid for it. But, I am giving only 3 stars considering the real price of the product.

It is true that the mounting template that comes with the product is wrong. I had to make my own template. However, the mounting hardware includes three sets of spacers and two sets of screws that you can use in any combination to suit to your cabinet. Mine worked very well and is quite stable. I like the fact that it does not occupy any space on my kitchen counter top.

My wife said that the CD didn't work at one point. Then when I checked it, it was working fine. FM reception is not satisfactory. One of our favorite stations is not picked up. Manual says that the power cable should be stretched (I believe it acts as antenna), but I don't like the cable hanging all over the kitchen counter.

The instruction manual could be improved. Product is much bulkier for the sound it produces. There is a holder for the remote control at the bottom. It is still not clear to me as to how I can place the remote in the holder. (Manual says nothing about this.) The way I have put it now makes the buttons on the remote press against the bottom surface of the product. You must use only the remote control to utilize some of the features such as setting the presets.

Overall, I like the product, but they could have done a much better job.

2.0 out of 5 stars Tinny sound, December 1, 2002

Cd Radio is styled nicely but quality is poor. Installation template that came with radio was not correct for this product. Radio reception was poor. Remote buttons tended to get stuck. I don't think I am going to keep it. It is hard to find a reasonably priced alternative. The Bose product is [much more] . Not much in between.

2.0 out of 5 stars The radio that worked for 12 days., January 21, 2003

I liked the concept of this radio. It has 20 preset station capability and a remote control. However, after 2 days of operation, the remote quit working. On the 12th day, it quit working entirely! Bottom line - I think it is well designed but poorly manufactured.

5.0 out of 5 stars Under my daughter's cabinet, December 9, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I had one of these Michael Graves CD-radios in my old home and my nostalgic daughter wanted to have one just like it . Amazon to the rescue . It was refurbished , even though the seller indicated it was NEW , however it works perfectly . The installation directions were less than adequet but with a little ingenuity , it got installed under my daughter's kitchen cabinet . At first I was going to give this 4~stars for sound quality but considering the price paid and all there was to it , I upped this to 5~stars . It's not like a $400 stereo . It's a $40 , well designed , compact , AM~FM radio , with a clock , and CD player that works . 5~STARS for the price .

1.0 out of 5 stars Garbage, August 11, 2004
This review is from: Under Cabinet CD Clock Radio (Electronics)
Bought this unit on clearance at Target. The radio reception was always poor. CDs played OK, but sound quality was low. After 8 months of use the system died while playing a CD. Now it cannot be turned on and the CD is stuck inside. Neither Target nor the manufacturer are willing to offer anything beyond the original 90 day warrantee. DON'T BUY IT!

1.0 out of 5 stars Target should check things before selling, February 8, 2004

We bought this kitchen clock radio because it was on clearance. We installed it in the kitchen and the radio worked fine and plays great. However, the CD player doesn't work. We put a CD in and when the tray slides inside, the CD actually gets stuck. The CD will play but when you eject the tray, the CD won't come out and gets stuck somewhere inside. We've ruined three CDs (more than the price of the radio) so far.

I, too, bought this item for 75% off. With that in mind, I love this product. It was tough to install, but with patience, I got it installed. The design is sleek and works well in my kitchen which is quickly becoming a shrine to Michael Graves. There are a few things that I wish this would have: The clock does not glow in the dark, so walking into a dark kitchen you will not know what time it is unless you turn on the light. The stations on the radio do not come in as clearly as one would like, but that is typical with under the counter CD players I wish it had an auxillary plug-in on it so that you can plug things into it and work with the timer to turn things automatically (my last under the unit did this). Other than that, I do not suggest buying this product at full price.

I bought this on clearance for half price. Thought it was a good deal. Wrong!!! The cd player worked for one day only. The sound quality is poor and can't get a lot of stations in clearly. Poor, poor, poor.....

2.0 out of 5 stars Looks great, doesn't follow through as well, October 22, 2003

This review is from: Under Cabinet CD Clock Radio (Electronics)
This looks fabulous!! Everything about it is stylish. It even functions fine for me. My problem with it is the operation of it. The instructions to install were incorrect, the template they gave to mount the screws didn't match the screws on the unit, and the remote is bizarre. The buttons on the radio aren't named the same as the ones on the remote, so by the time you figure out how to operate it, you have to relearn how to do the same thing on the remote. It's completely strange, as though two different manufacturers made them. I wouldn't recommend you buy this.
