This is an old series, but the writing and acting is still the same...sharp and exciting. I watched this series originally, and am enjoying it more the second time around. Being able to watch several episodes at once, without commercials, and the story lines are fresh in the mind. I enjoy seeing famous actors in their younger days, watching them develop and enjoy long and happy careers. Amazon Prime Rocks!

Okay. I never thought I'd get over David Caruso leaving. And then I never EVER thought I'd get over Jimmy Smits leaving. And then when Rick Schroeder came on I thought okay...we'll see...and then he was absolutely top shelf and amazing, I thought I can live with this forever. Sorensen and Sipowicz...ah...perfection. Then, when HE left too, I really couldn't watch it for a while. But eventually I got used to the new guy Clark Jr. And even though he ended up being my least favorite of Andy's partners, he did a decent job. Through all the MAJOR changes in season 8, it still turned out to be an excellent one. Even with many beloved characters leaving during Seasons 7, 8 & 9 such as the wonderful Lieutenant Fancy, Diane Russell, Rick Schroeder and Nicholas Turturro...the show is so strong, that it survived all of those wonderful actors and story lines exiting. The new characters and actors were excellent and transitioned in quite well. I especially LOVED Esai Morales and his understated yet powerful and enigmatic portrayal of Lieutenant Tony Rodriguez. Henry Simmons, Garcelle Beauvais, Rita Ortiz were superb as well and I really enjoyed them. (sorry if i forgot anyone, I'm writing from memory in the moment :) All of this solidly proves how outstanding the writing and acting was in this show! AND how stellar Denniz Franz's performance was of the multi-dimensional and beloved Andy Sipowicz. The way he showed the evolution of his character was and will always be inspiring to me as a fan of the show and as a writer in my own life and profession. Sipowicz is my favorite TV character of all-time and always will be. Denniz Franz is a consummate actor and he crafted this part to beloved perfection. And of course, integral to the show's success was the loyal and ever-faithful Gordon Clapp as the quirky, well-meaning and good-hearted Greg Medavoy. This reviewer and forever fan gives this season an A. Thank you NYPD Blue. and R.I.P. Danny Sorensen. You are missed and loved.

I had purchased every season of NYPD Blue offered on DVD. It was so disappointing when it stopped at Season 4. Finding the complete series available on Amazon On Demand Prime has let me go back and enjoy this great series. So well done that it seems like a series of long movies not a fragmented episode based TV series.

I've worked my way to the middle of Season 8 just before the 9/11 disaster. As of Season 9 the HD episodes kick in to the finale. Looking forward to those as well. Highly recommended to anyone that enjoyed this ground breaking TV show.

I give NYPD BLUE Season 8 a vote of excitement and a nod to perfection. The characters, the complexities, the crimes ... all involving, all compelling...all filled with heart, hope, and the real twists and turns that only life can provide. There is no false note here. Just honest people doing their job...sometimes failing...always exploring the rights and wrongs in the complex world of carrying a gun for the city. For the law.

This is probably one of the best TV shows ever. The characters are always interesting, and the acting is excellent.

If you want to watch a man who is typical of men his age with no enlightment as to how to deal with people watch Sipowitz fumble trough life attacking everyone and everything witch is not exactly like himself. Women do not cross his path unless you are willing to be his door mat. he thinks because you are on the job the same as he is does not mean diddly, You are a woman you could not have done as much work as he does so go home take care of the kids, cook the meals and all the rest. Because he is man and better than al that. All my friends and relatives feel the same about this man. No one can figure out how he has lived in his enclosed world so long without being murdered. lol his fellow officers point out that he must be from an indian tribe when he repeatedly tells people to go home to their own country. his prejudged character is an insult to real police detectives. Only in some rinky dink town would he or most of his fellow officers be promoted beyond a street cop. Metavow is a laugh and only he does not know this a Barny Miller of first class.
And how with the same old tired way they get confessions in real life criminals would laugh at them. I know because I know cops who say ' You realy watch that trash? everyone with a half a mind wishes they would cancel that it is so unreal." One is a high up retired cop from St.Louis , Mo. It got so in the 10 th season I told a girlfriend I had to separate from Sipowitz . She laughed and said aren't you glad everytime he dises someone that you are not married to him lol And aren't you glad that in this one horse backward town we do not have one cop like him. Well except for the sheriffs sister.LOL

NYPD Blue is still a great show after all these years, but the writers could have handled the issue of Danny Sorenson's leaving the show a little better. One of my pet peeves with writers is that they develop a person's character and then start messing with it. The Danny character (Rick Schroeder) started out as smart, well grounded, moral person with a good sense of humor and he could hold his own against Andy or anyone else in the squad. By the end of the season 8, they had magically turned Danny into an emotion and moral cripple.

I don't think eithr the character or the actor benefited from his tour in the 15th!
