Book Description

Under His Nose, Guys and Godmothers Book 1, Available July 2013

All it takes is faith, trust, and fairy dust. A swift kick never hurts, either.

Christy is due for retirement from her fairy godmother gig, but she agrees to take one last case. Helping Roark Turner find his perfect girl shouldn't be much of a challenge--after all, she is a veteran fairy godmother.

What makes this case interesting? She must use as little magic as possible to bring Roark his much-desired Happily Ever After.

Now Christy must use every skill at her command--just not her magic--to thwart Cupid's meddling and get Roark and his perfect match Stephanie together without changing their free will or ruining her perfect record. Or she'll never get her own Happily Ever After.

Editorial Reviews

"Under His Nose is a light, fun, easy read. All of the characters are incredibly likable and the romance is sweet, tempered by just enough reality to make it believable...Under His Nose has a distinct voice-there is a wonderful sense of humor running throughout what is a sweet, fun, and thoroughly enjoyable romance." About the Author

Candice Gilmer leads a dangerous double life as a mommy and a writer. In between boo-boo healing and fixing broken toys, she writes stories usually to the tune of children's television shows.

Growing up in the Midwest, Candice stays close to her family, especially the ones with basements when the tornadoes come around. She also works as a hairdresser, which she's done for over fifteen years, and brings her laptop to work so she can write between clients.

When she's not writing, styling hair and taking care of her family, she gets together with her girlfriends for gossip and coffee while her husband hunts ghosts.  All in all, she stays very busy, but really, she wouldn't have it any other way.

Well, maybe a little less children's television.

5.0 out of 5 stars So much fun! July 9, 2013
By Sry
Format:Kindle Edition
Well, this time it's the guys who get the godmothers in Candice Gilmer's wonderful novel, Under His Nose. How much fun to see the hero have to deal with a meddlesome fairy and the dart from one of cupid's mignons, all while trying to convince the girl of his dreams he doesn't want to be friends anymore.

Roarke and Stephanie come from different sides of the track. The former high school wrestling star went off to college and opened his own custom perfume shop while Stephanie is forced to deal with the snotty girls who used to torture her and who are now her wedding consultant business's clients. Roarke is finally at a place where he's ready for serious commitment, but there is only one woman he'd ever want to commit to. Unfortunately, Stephanie has walled up her heart and believes love isn't for her.

Candice Gilmer's writing is sassy and fun, yet has sophistication that brings her characters to life. Even the magical beings are fully detailed with their own gripes, concerns, and love life. I read this in one sitting and enjoyed it throughly.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the best book I've read. August 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If this was the type of book I normally read, it wouldn't have been so bad. I only bought the book because I know the person it's dedicated to. Was not expecting fairies and cupids. I would say this book would be good for a high schooler, but then again, I don't know about that either. I think I'll stick to more "adult" oriented books.

More About the Author

"Mom! Can't you work in here???" bellows Candice Gilmer's seven-year old.

"No," Candice replies, knowing that Spongebob Squarepants will kill the ability to write anything even remotely sexy.

Not that she sits far away - a mere twenty feet away from the television and her daughter. Still, that twenty feet is evidently more than the child can handle. The two-year-old, however, has no problem with Mom in the other room, and is happily clanking his trucks around, making the sirens go off non-stop.

Candice wonders who bought the noisy toys, and thinks if she can remember, they're going off the Christmas card list.

"But Mom... I'm hungry..."

The two-year-old's enjoyment of his truck ends because he comes into the kitchen, grabs a bag of gummie treats and thrusts them, along with his sippy cup at Candice. Evidently he desires food too.

And such is the daily life of one Candice Gilmer, Mommy and Writer.
