4.0 out of 5 stars It's An Acquired Taste, Nonetheless Pleasing
I just pulled out my mother's dusty, on-the-shelf copy of Anointed's 'Under The Influence,' and I put things in perspective. Before I dropped it in my cassette player/stereo, I was thinking the majority of these songs just don't pull me in because some are downtempo and take time to adjust to. 4.0 out of 5 stars It's An Acquired Taste, Nonetheless Pleasing, November 9, 1999

I reviewed "Get Ready"- satisfactory, nice bassline. I reviewed "Do"- mellow, had a slow beat that drew me in, had a nice bridge to the chorus, and Ne'Cee, Steve, & Da'dra never disappoint vocal-wise. I listened to "Adore You"- my reaction was "I heard enough!" Why? Because this is arguably the best song they ever conceived- instrumentally, vocal, & lyrically. The song was leaking out melody from all crevices- Steve made quite an impression as everything just fell into synchronization. That is why I have given it a four- for this song and "Under The Influence" alone! I never got a chance to really evaluate the other side of the tape, but I'll tell you this- if you get this tape, don't dwell on the ones that don't grab you right away. I'm sure you'll like "Under The Influence"- the r&b-inclined track that brought me and my mom to get this album (cool strings and vocals), "Waiting In The Wings"- heartfelt and sincere, "Get Ready"- a funk number, "Do"- a downtempo, mellow diamond-in-the-rough, and lastly, "Adore You," which is what I believe one of the best gospel/christian songs I've heard in ages that fulfilled all three areas: vocals, instrumentals, & lyrics. Please consider the positive aspects of this, and get it. If you're an avid fan of Anointed, the less interesting tracks will grow on you.

5.0 out of 5 stars This singing trio is definitely ANOINTED by God!!!!!, October 7, 1998

Have you not seen, have you not heard - there's a music group called 'Anointed' with lyrics that can only reinforce the name of this dynamic trio. Check out my personal favorites: "Take Me Back", and "Come Unto Me". The words will touch your soul, and the music will have you rejoicing 'Under the Influence' of God's goodness. I urgently wait for the next release by this wonderful group. Keep uplifting the name of Jesus. MUCH LOVE!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Spreading the Influence, May 19, 2000

I discoverd this CD by accident some time ago and just recently took the time to listen to it. Apparently, God had something He wanted me to hear.

Anointed is just that "Anointed" - God has commissioned them to spread a very special message and this CD does just that. The title track appeals to christians and non- christians alike. My personal favorites "Adore You" and "Walling in the Light" showcase the talent and calling of Steve, Da'dra and Ne'Cee - May God continue to bless their ministry. Go get this one - It's a keeper!

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful lyrics, memorable music. Draws people!, September 23, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Under the Influence (Audio CD)
I listen to my Anoited CD daily. Under the Influence was the only song I'd heard before I bought the CD 4 months ago. Now, I know all the lyrics by heart (and so does my 4 year old son). The music is contemporary and the lyrics meaningful. Each song touches my heart in a different way.

I have been able to introduce Christian music to many of my non-Christian friends with the help of this CD. The beat attracks them and before you know it, they're singing along. By the time the words register, they're hooked.

"Anointed" is the right name for this group. The seeds are being planted.

I have this cd and have given it as a gift because it is great!
All members are talented singers with great voices and they work together very well. The music and lyrics are inspiring and at times have brought a grown man to tears (I admit it). These people harmonize together beautifully as well as solo's. Yes-they have been anointed to touch our souls and they certainly have touched mine. You will be truly blessed!! Tony Ingram

5.0 out of 5 stars Aptly-Named Group, July 4, 2000
This review is from: Under the Influence (Audio CD)
Until recently, the only song I had ever heard from Annointed was "The Call." Although I loved the song, it did not really begin to minister to me until I saw the group live and was convinced beyond a doubt that they really believe what they sing. They did not put on a show. They worshipped. I bought "Under the Influence" immediately afterward. I wasn't disappointed. "Take Me Back" has been a song of encouragement many times when I've experienced low points in my Christian walk. "Get Ready" is also a favorite, because it makes such an impacting statement that today's youth needs to hear. Overall, it's a wonderful album, and this group is most aptly named, because they certainly are annointed.

I have been listening to this CD almost daily, sometimes over and over, for months. I listen to 'The Call' when driving. This group sounds so sincere! I love the style, especially the musical variety, of Anointed, and hope they produce another CD soon.

4.0 out of 5 stars This disc will bless you!, March 17, 1999

This review is from: Under the Influence (Audio CD)
"Under the Influence" is not quite the powerhouse CD that "The Call" was, but it will still bless you. (By the way, if you're trying to fight the temptations of the enemy and you're really going through, listen to the song "Do" over and over again. Good stuff that will minister to you!)
