3.0 out of 5 stars The 2 original songs are worth the price alone
Most would prefer an all original cd, since their last one came (Belly 2 Belly) came out in 96, but something is better than nothing.

Since they are cover songs, it is hard to give a rating, because the opinions will vary. Despite the choices, Warrant did the songs quite well. I probably would have left out "Hair of the Dog," though. That belongs with...

The 2 new songs are called "Subhuman" and "Face" and they are great original Warrant creations. Warrant has been performing the new song "Subhuman" on this years Glam Slam Jam opening up for POISON.

This CD is for the Warrant diehard fans and was released to tide people over until the band releases a full album of new material late this year or early next year.

Great sound, production, and graphics makes this CD a must have for the diehard Warrant fans....

5.0 out of 5 stars THE DOWN BOYS HAVE A WINNER HERE!, November 10, 2001

I was incredibly curious about this release. Jani Lane, Warrant's vocalist and prolific songwriter . . . doing cover tunes? But this album is wonderful! Jani does justice to every number, even David Bowie's "Suffragette City". If you are a fan of Warrant you won't be disappointed by this album and if you have NOT been a fan of Warrant this album just might be the one to change your mind. They once again show themselves to be a band that can tackle melodic hard rock with a vengeance. I hope this release is the beginning of more great things for this band. Pick up a copy of "Under the Influence". It's the best way to be "under the influence" I can think of . . . under the influence of quality rock 'n roll!

4.0 out of 5 stars Warrant's first good album in nearly a decade, August 26, 2004

A lot of longtime Warrant fans will agree with me when I say that Ultraphobic and Belly to Belly were two horrible albums. After suffering through a few spins of each of those in the CD player, I was somewhat hesitant to give any subsequent albums of theirs a chance. However, knowing quite a few of the classic rock tunes on this album plus the fact that Jani Lane's cover of Photograph totally rocks, I gave the album a shot. I was glad to hear Warrant once again recording some rocking tunes that were worthy of being compared to their three awesome late eighties albums. Like a few of the other reviewers here, the last track "Face" is worth the price of the album alone. While not a typical 80's style rocker, it is a very cool new rock tune from a band who has had very little to praise during the last decade. If they could record a whole album full of tracks like "Face" and "Sub Human" I think they would win a lot of their fans back who deserted after Ultraphobic and Belly to Belly. The only reason I don't give this album five stars is because it is a cover album for the most part. Get some new material guys.

Warrant = good time rock band. Longevity has helped this band continue to deliver music to its die hard fans. Jani's vocals set Warrant apart from the rest of the hard rock genre. A collection of covers where each song is stamped with a thud by the Warrant trademark.....good time rock! Two new tracks by Warrant make this album worth buying without the covers.

This cd is great! I love the cover songs and the originals are classic! `Subhuman' is a great tune live at Glam Slam and on disc! I can't wait to see what Jani and the band do next!

5.0 out of 5 stars warrant's under the influence cd is A.K. Rock!, March 21, 2006

Wow, a cover album called "under the influence"! How appropriate for warrant, as they are under the influence of some of their long time favorite artists while recording these cover songs. They are all amazing, I think especially "Hair Of The Dog", with it's recent new popularity again, because of car commercials. Jani Lane makes us love him all over again while belting out these timeless heavy metal songs in a perfect cover album.

That belongs with coverbands who play in local bars.

The two original songs deserve a 5 on their own. Sub-Human is great. Could have used a second chorus at the end, however. A nice modern rocker. "Face" no-doubt would have done incredible if given a chance with media. Nice acoustic verses, kick in at the chorus, and radio-friendy vocals.

I knock off points for "Hair of the Dog" and this replacing a full-length original cd.

Warrant has done it again. This has a great mix of some classics done with a new twist. More proof that Warrant is more then a hair band.
