Rona Shively's Excellent Adventure, August 4, 2007
This review is from: Under Lock and Key: The Rona Shively Stories (Paperback)
Another great novelette from Rebecca Benston, continuing the crazy adventures of private investigator Rona Shively, who's a little Stephanie Plum and a little Grace Adler, and who prefers to believe that household chores will go away if you ignore them long enough. Addicted to pizza and Chinese take-out, she's still looking for a stable romantic relationship, but doesn't mind kissing a lot of frogs until Prince Charming decides to show up.
As I did for the first book
In the Wash, I'll make this quick for people on the go.
Assignment:
1. Investigate a fatal boating incident
Possible complications:
1. Arrival of sister and two daughters
2. Rent is overdue
3. Fatal shooting at favorite Chinese restaurant
4. Having to visit old High School
5. Ex- boyfriend gets out of jail
6. 16 year old boy goes missing
7. Probably going to hell for impersonating a member of a religious order
If you're into murder mysteries, this is an ideal book for travel or commuting. It's fast, funny, action-packed and easy to read in one sitting,

Under Lock and Key, September 10, 2007
This review is from: Under Lock and Key: The Rona Shively Stories (Paperback)
Rona Shively has money problems at the moment. She needs to collect from deadbeat clients and new work. She also has problems with boyfriends and her sister is coming for an unexpected visit. It's all piling up at once.
A previous client wants to hire her to find how his sister fell off a boat. An old boyfriend turns up and pulls her into his troubles. Rona is forced to do a balancing act to keep things moving as she tries to get her investigation underway.
She has a lead to check and that lead takes her straight into danger. Will she get out alive?
Talented author Rebecca Benston shows the reader just how complicated life can get suddenly and how people you thought you knew, aren't who you thought they were.
Recommended as a fun read that will satisfy any mystery fan. Join Rona to see just how she might work through her problems. Surprises await. Enjoy. I did.
