This song is so multi-faceted, both vocally and instrumentally, that I listen to it almost everyday. The messages are as meaningful now as they were when this was recorded.

Simply said, if more of us took to heart the simple words sung here by Freddie Mercury and David Bowie, we'd be further along the road to being the kind of people that can inspire hope in ourselves and each other...and we could change the world for the better.

I normally don't like to speak negatively of people, but I just can't sit by idly while Feddie Mercury besmirches the legacy of one Robert Matthew Van Winkle aka Vanilla Ice. Look, I as much as anyone else can't resist the catchy bass line of "Ice Ice Baby", but to go once step further and blatantly copy it, create a new song around it calling it "Under Pressure", then when called on it, act naive as if you've never even HEARD this classic song before??!! Did I mention that Freddie Mercury did all of this while Mr. Van Winkle was on his death bed succumbing to Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome?!(side note: I was surprised as much as anyone else he had this...well, until I saw "Cool As Ice") The fact that David Bowie agreed to this doesn't surprise me in the least bit, just look at when he cribbed "Been Around The World" by Diddy for his inferior "Let's Dance". Shame on you! |
