A good "Die Hard" style soundtrack,
By A Customer
This review is from: Under Siege: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
Gary Chang's soundtrack for the first of the two "Under Siege" movies is comprised mainly of slow, "creeping around" music and tense action cues. The Main Title has something of a main theme, but it is not heard again until the very last track. The Takeover contains the theme for the villains, a creepy string arrangement with precussion tapping steadily in the background. This theme is not heard that often either, but appears more than the main theme. The rest of the cues are mostly low underscore, but a few interesting ones pop up from time to time, like "Reveal Sub", "Then Sink the Sub", and "Boardway Shootout." It is much in the style of "Die Hard" and less like "Under Siege 2" or most action movies today. Still, if you liked the music in the movie, this is a good soundtrack to buy.

The blues at the party with Strannix's Live Band are missing, Main Theme is great but all in all this soundtrack CD seems a bit short in length. It would have been also nice to include bits of the voices of the movie's main characters in the mix, from the real-movie scenes, like in the Vangelis Blade Runner soundtrack. (Moreover with Tommy Lee Jones, Garey Busey and Steve Seagal unique voice tones, **specially Seagal's) |
