4.0 out of 5 stars This Geiger's clicking like crazy
Meet Teddy Geiger, the talented, model-cute 17 year old singer/songwriter whose debut album is a sure-fire bet to be a huge hit. Fans of James Blunt, Daniel Powter, Daniel Bedingfield and K T Tunstall will identify with this album, especially the fresh-sounding first single "For You I Will (Confidence)"

Second single "These Walls" is a ballad about facing up...

versus
3.0 out of 5 stars I really, REALLY wanted to like this CD a bit more. But it's solid. 3.75 stars.
Teddy Geiger had his own reality show on MTV that was supposed to provide a place to launch his career and get noticed back in 2005 or 2006, I can't recall. I do remember him trying to create songs in the basement of his home though, and For You I Will (Confidence) was the breakout single that also happened to be featured on the show.

I don't remember much else...

Second single "These Walls" is a ballad about facing up to life after having your heart broken.

"Cause everybody tries to put some love on the line

And everybody feels a broken heart sometimes

And even when I'm scared I have to try to fly

Sometimes I fall

But I've seen it done before

I got to step outside these walls"

Other good tracks are "Thinking Underage", "Look Where We Are Now" and "Seven Days Without You" (a version of the Avion single, and my favorite track), but there really isn't a bad song on this album.

Watch out for this husky voiced cutie-pie, he's another Geiger you can count on.

4.0 out of 5 stars Overage Talent!, March 22, 2006

When I downloaded his single on [that music service whose name begins with an "i"], I liked the song and looked forward to the release of the album, thinking it was going to be pretty good. But I didn't expect it to be one of the best albums of 2006 thusfar! One can't help but be impressed by such a solid debut album from a guy still in his teens.

Several songs I fell in love with by the third listen of this album, specifically: "Air Dry", the upbeat "Possibilities", the mellow "Gentlemen", and the lead-off single "For You I Will (Confidence)". Geiger's voice contains the most pleasing elements of both Jonny Lang's raspy growl and Ryan Cabrera's breezy smoothness; and his songwriting and musical style bring to mind a cross between Tyler Hilton and John Mayer. If you like any or all of these artists, Teddy Geiger is right up your alley.

Simply put, this album is straight-ahead, radio-friendly pop-rock with a dash of rootsy funk. It doesn't break any new ground, but it doesn't have to in order to be good. "Underage Thinking" is very good, and if the corporate music machine allows Teddy Geiger to put out a second album (and maybe a third), I have a strong feeling that he's only going to get better.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Sky's The Limit For This Musical Prodigy, April 8, 2006
This review is from: Underage Thinking (Audio CD)
Teddy Geiger's debut album "Underage Thinking" shows a maturity and depth that has not been seen for years in a performer so young. At 16 (now he is 17) Geiger either wrote or co-wrote 11 out 12 of the tracks on this album but also played Piano, Guitar, Bass and Drums these various songs. What makes it more amazing is that he is self-taught on all these instruments.

While the maturity of writing in his melodies is evident, his lyrics ring with an earnestness and a poetic quality which ranks with the best of today's music.

A sample from the first single "For You I Will (Confidence)":

For give me if I st..stutter
From all of the clutter
In my head.

Cuz I could fall asleep in those eyes
Like a water bed

Do I seem familiar,
I've crossed you in hallways
A thousand times,

No more camouflage
I want to be exposed,
And not be afraid to fall.

The quality of lyrics and the memorable nature and tunefulness of the music make this great song sound even better after several listens.

Other songs of note include:

"These Walls"
"Night Air"
"Thinking Underage"
"Look Where We Are Now"
"Air Dry"
"Trying Too Hard"
"A Million Years"

The last track on the disc, "Love Is A Marathon", strongly evokes Bob Dylan and could be the masterpiece of the entire allbum.

Will Teddy Geiger be the next Dylan, McCartney or Joel? Probably not, but there is no doubt in my mind that he has the potential to become an all-time great. Whether he lives up to that potential or not remains to be seen, but I for one, will be buying his next album. After that, I hope I will be purchasing Teddy Geiger albums for years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars True Talent, April 4, 2006
This review is from: Underage Thinking (Audio CD)
This is hands down the best album of the year. I've been following Teddy's career for over a year, and I've been to 12 shows so far, watched him grow so much as a musician, and finally to see him put out this fabulous CD is awesome.

Don't listen to the people who say he's the next John Mayer. He's better than that. He's got way more talent, and he'll have ten times the success John Mayer had. His album debuted in the Billboard Magazine Top 10, which is more than most Top 40 artists can say. No matter where you come from, that's impressive.

He's got the whole package. He can play the guitar, piano, drums and bass, not to mention he wrote or co-wrote 11 of the 12 songs on his album. This kid's for real. His music is mature for his age - yet it's easy to relate to. He manages to capture not just one demographic, but he's gotten the attention of people everywhere.

Watch out for Teddy, cause this is just the beginning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Debut, October 18, 2006
This review is from: Underage Thinking (Audio CD)
I was shocked with the just... awesomeness of Geiger. So rarely do I find an artist that has this much talent that I love. My favorite song on this CD is definately These Walls, but there are also other great songs as well!

1. These Walls- 9.8/10 This is one of my favorite songs ever. The words are beautiful and real and the tune is just right. It's an awesome love song.

2. For You I will- 8.5/10 Honest, genuine and very likeable.

3. Night Air- 8.5/10 First of all, I really liked the intro. A really good song. You get the sense that Geiger really put himself into this one. You get that soulful feeling.

4. Thinking underage- 7/10 I'm not sure about the tune but I love the words. So meaningful!

5. Look where we are now- 8/10 Another nice intro. Pretty good body.

6. Air Dry- 8.5/10 Very catchy. The kinda song you dance to while sitting down.

7. Seven days without you- 8/10 When I hear this song I can just immagine Geiger sitting with a guitar by a rainy window...

8. Try too hard- 7.5/10 A nice "sway" song

9. A million years- 8.5/10 Nice tune, flowy, easy to listen too.

10. Possibilities- 4.5/10 The only song on the CD I was truly disappointed with. I just couldn't feel the rhythem and it was just strange. The beat just wasn't right. It didn't click.

11. Gentlemen- 7/10 Not sure about this one. The lyrics are interesting and so is the tune. But I did like it.

12. Love is a marathon- 6/10 Okay, but boring.

5.0 out of 5 stars This kid's incredible -- no John Mayer rip-off, April 13, 2006
This review is from: Underage Thinking (Audio CD)
Teddy Geiger's debut album is a winner!!!

Don't be fooled by this John Mayer crap everyone is jumping on board with. Geiger is incredible. Not to mention his age. Admittedly, there are similarities to be drawn between Geiger and Mayer, among some other artists. But, this "John Mayer rip-off" crap could not be more off. Geiger is incredible in his own right.

Then there's this "his lyrics are SO Middle School" Please! Where do I start! Any sane person who listens to Teddy's soft spoken heart felt lyrics falls in love with them. If you just hear what he's saying, Geiger's lyrics are beyond his years.

5.0 out of 5 stars A review from experience, August 24, 2006
This review is from: Underage Thinking (Audio CD)
Teddy Geiger has a sensative voice that is VERY easy to listen to. Not only is he good on his CD, but Live he ever sounds good, almost better! It seems as though he has a song for every mood, when your up, when your down, and when Life just doesn't seem to be going how you might wish. I recommed this cd to anyone who is interested in John Meyer, Daniel Powter, etc. This is a voice that needs to be heard god only knows how many singers out there have actual talent. It seems like everyone these days can be conisdered "a musician" but only a few actually deserve it and Teddy is one of those people. I also recommed if you ever get the chance to go to a live concert and experience his talent up close.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, July 19, 2006
This review is from: Underage Thinking (Audio CD)
I think that Teddy Geiger is an amazing artist that is wonderfully talented. I don't think people give him the credit he deserves, after all hes only 17 and he plays bass, piano, guitar and percussion and is also responible for much of the pragramming and arrangements on the album, and I say, you have to be pretty darn talented to do all of those things, as well as singing. I find his lyrics quite inspiring and touching. I have Teddy's album and I am very impressed. Well done Teddy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, May 12, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Underage Thinking (Audio CD)
I love this CD! I saw Teddy on Letterman, and immediately went hunting on amazon for his CD. I read some on-line reviews with negative connotations... one that said he is a "John Mayer wannabe"... but since I can't get enough of John Mayer, that negative review actually clinched the sale for me. He does kinda sound like John; in fact, on some songs I can forget that I'm not listening to John Mayer. Then again, on a couple of songs, in particular "Air Dry," he reminds me of Elvis Costello back in the day. At any rate, this is a huge talent, I love listening to the CD, and I look forward to many more of his efforts in the coming years. I'm sure John will be more than happy to share the stage... maybe they should tour together, or the John Mayer Trio should think about becoming a quartet!

4.0 out of 5 stars Close to John Mayer, April 4, 2006
This review is from: Underage Thinking (Audio CD)
Now, don't let the title throw you off, I said "close". There are definitely similarities to be drawn, but at the same time there are many differences. Listening to this CD, you get the impression that Mr. Geiger has a definitely grown up with a musical sensibility. At the same time, you get the idea that, now and, again, the powers-that-be push into this album their influence of selling to the younger kids. This CD moves between soulful songs to more upbeat, almost "pop" songs. Luckily, this CD does it gracefully. Not bad at all for a first major release. Teddy Geiger, just like John Mayer, has plenty of potential.
