5.0 out of 5 stars An Inspirational Ride-Along!
At first glance, one could be intimidated by Lockwood in her super-woman, achievement-driven experiences-perhaps feeling an inability to "resonate" or "relate". However, combat boots and SWAT gear aside, the "inner" story and personal struggle are so universal and so vulnerable in their telling that the intelligence and accomplishments is a model for "possibility". 1.0 out of 5 stars No thanks!
Lisa has been through a lot and done a lot, but the pervading theme for me is her arrogance. She seems to think she's pretty amazing, and almost always manages to save the day. Although some of the situations were interesting, the arrogance was a total turn off for me.

The "woman" in Lockwood is vulnerable with great vision and perseverance, an inspiration for anyone's own reinvention! This book will appeal to both women and men in its heart message and action-packed narrative! What a ride!

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshingly inspirational!, May 12, 2007

The book reads like a compelling crime story; however, when you are finished, you realize you have just journeyed through a motivational and compelling true life story of hard knocks and success. I LOVE the fact that it conveys good "self help", useable concepts in a refreshing way (i.e, not the typical "10 Steps to suceess" stories that run rampant in book stores today!).

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong women will appreciate this book, May 8, 2007

When I first read the promo line for this book, I really didn't imagine that I would be unable to put the book down!

While it was a very entertaining read, I found myself constantly relating to the author's struggles in her career and personal life. There are a lot of women who will associate to the challenge of doing what is "right" by society's standards and needing to be true to themselves.

I recommend this read to all women who want to have their cake and eat it too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally the truth is told!, May 8, 2007
An inspiring account by a brave woman who endured ridicule and discrimination and still managed to turn the other cheek inspite of everything.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent! Excellent!, May 14, 2007

What a refreshing book. Certainly not your typical story. The author describes how she started out with very little and turned it into a fairy-tale, albeit in a non-conventional manner. From mid-west pageant girl, to one of our military troops, to a SWAT team underdog, to undercover narcotics detective, she certainly proved that one can acheive a goal no matter what. The way that it ends gives you a real appreciation for the rugged road she endured. There really are happy and meaningful endings.

This is one of the best books that I have read.

I found the book to be witty, dark and creative -- and pretty darn funny at times. Who says you can't have it all??? Anyone who is thinking of radically changing their career or attempting to overcome gender related obstacles should read this book!

Lisa's attitude is one many could learn from. She succeeded, against all odds, in so many situations, and is an inspiration to all women. Her message is valuable, and the book fun to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing True Life Story, October 30, 2007
I read Undercover Angel and couldn't put the book down as I followed Lisa's story from her humble beginnings to her incredible adventures (wild but true)as an undercover cop and as a swat team member.

Told in the first person, her story unfolds before your eyes as she reveals more and more about her own personal development while being brutally honest about some missteps and wrong decisions that deeply affected her life.

Unlike many abused women, Lisa overcame her situation through guts and determination to became a decorated cop with a remarkable carer.

Lisa is not a professional story teller and that works for her in this story because her voice is authentic and her story is true. I am sure it was not easy for her to tell this story but I'm glad she did.
