Book Description

9 and up5 and upUndercover Girl
In a world of secrets, how can you tell what's real?

Jesse Sharpe is no ordinary kid. She's an orphan, a genius, and a secret agent. Jesse has been assigned by C2--the mysterious organization that raised her and taught her to be a spy--to protect another girl from a kidnap attempt. Jesse will have to trail suspects, plant listening devices, crack codes, and kick occasional bad guy butt. What Jesse doesn't know is whether she can trust C2 and the information she has been given--or if someone within the organization is trying to blow her cover.

More About the Author

I wrote my first book when I was nine and sitting up a tree in my Nan's back garden. Which might explain my obsession with stories and gardens.
Nan encouraged my imagination. I'd knock on the door and say, Hello, lady, I'm an orphan and I don't have anywhere to go.'
'Come in,'Nan would say,'You can wear my granddaughter's clothes and eat her meal. She's not here right now.'
This went on for days. Until I got sick of it and decided to be a sailor or a fairy. I never wanted to be a horse - too many feet and too tall to fit in the house. Although after I read 'Anne of Green Gables' I did want to dye my hair, like Anne.
Since then I have written over 50 books, including SF, historical fiction, horror, humor, poetry and plays for readers aged 5 - 15 years.
Quite a few of these books have been shortlisted for prizes and even won some.
But none of these books were written up trees, but I do see trees out of my office window. And I still have my imagination.

5.0 out of 5 stars Undercover Girl #1 Secrets, January 17, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Undercover Girl #1: Secrets (Paperback)

What do you think it would be like to be a spy, genius and an orphan?
Jesse is just that. Jesse is about to explore the world outside of her C2 building and go on her first huge mission. Her partner is Liam. Liam doesn't care much about Jesse because she's only a "thumb sucker," in otherwords a kid. Jesse's mission is to save Jasmine Carrillo from being kidnapped. Along the way she encounters suspects, challenges, and at times she is confused.
During the mission Jesse finds out information about her mysterious childhood past.

Undercover Girl #1 Secrets made me wonder how it would be like if you were responsible for someone's life like Jesse was for Jasmine. Christine Harris did a wonderful job making the book interesting, adventurous, and exciting. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves adventure.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exciting New Series!, April 22, 2006
By
Kat K. Munro (Chicago, IL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Undercover Girl #1: Secrets (Paperback)
Jesse Sharpe, an orphan raised by a secret government agency to become a spy, is a very cool girl. She's got a bag full of spy gadgets, she's a kick-butt martial artist, and she's brilliantly smart. This book, the first in the series, introduces us to the prodigy and leaves quite an impression behind. The book was exciting and fun.

Who wouldn't want to get to know such an interesting girl better? This series is a literary equivalent of Alias for the preteen set. Every adventurous girl should give this book a chance.
