"Crow Fair" by Thomas McGuane
Set in Thomas McGuane’s accustomed Big Sky country, with its mesmeric powers, these stories attest to the generous compass of his fellow feeling, as well as to his unique way with words and the comic genius.
I originally bought this book mostly out of curiosity because I was born in the geographic region that it represents. However, I'll be buying the next one in the series (due to be released in the fall of 2010) not because of a cultural affiliation, but just because the stories are darn good! If you are a fan of great short stories, especially those with enchanting otherworldly themes, you won't be disappointed in this one.
