5.0 out of 5 stars Another great one from AA!!
As usual, this AA release is Different but awesome.
1)Mighty Good Leader-An anthemic song. Good message
2)Underdog- A straightforward rocker about how the little guy wins with God.
3)Get Down-My wife seems to think it has a dance beat.Guitarist Tyler Burkum does some funk chords very effectively here.
4)Good Life- My personal fave.Tells...

3.0 out of 5 stars Have some fun
Audio Adrenaline is a rarity in Christian music -- a band that can have fun and not take themselves too seriously. This is the ultimate saving grace on this album. They have a lot of fun, and I have a lot of fun with them.

So don't look for musical innovation, and there's no need to study the lyric sheet. But pumped to eleven in a place where you can dance, this...

2)Underdog- A straightforward rocker about how the little guy wins with God.
3)Get Down-My wife seems to think it has a dance beat.Guitarist Tyler Burkum does some funk chords very effectively here.
4)Good Life- My personal fave.Tells about how we gain all by losing all with Christ.GREAT lyrics.
5)Let My Love Open the Door-Cover of the Pete Townsend classic.I personally could have done without this but thats my opinion.Free Ride from the Bloom CD worked MUCH better as a cover.
6)Hands&Feet-Another good one for cranking up Will McGinnis' bass.deals with us being God's messengers today.
7)Jesus Movement-Shows the guy's ability to delve into other forms of music.there are some Mexican and Caribbean sounding rhythms mixed into a song about Christ crossing all boundaries including International ones.
8)DC-10-Again AA try another form of music. This time they do it with their tongues firmly in cheek.(In other words,in a joking manner). They jump on the swing bandwagon and do a repectable job. While swing is FAR from my kind of music,I must admit that this song is VERY catchy and has an awesome message in a round about way.
9)It Is Well With My Soul-One of my favorite hymns. At firstI didn't like the arrangement at all, but after a few listens it began to grow on me.Now I find it hard to remember the original arrangement.(NOTE: For anyone who is a Jennifer Knapp fan,she sings backup and a verse on this.)
10)This Day-Good lyrics but I don't like the song. It's just my opinion. It starts out with an AWESOME guitar riff that I thought would continue, then a cello(?) comes in and the music just doesn't fit together in my opinion.
11)It's Over-Another rocker about taking Christ's message with you when you leave an Audio Adrenaline show.
12)The Houseplant Song-This is a WEIRD song.It is also one of my favorites. It plays like an amateur night at a coffee house.Starts with introduction by Mark Stuart acting like a jazz DJ.The song is sang by Bob Herdman. It is definitely parody, but it goes from a novelty song to become a very interesting one.It talks about the study that supposedly found houseplants wilt when exposed to loud rock music whether it is Christian rock or secular. It ends asking who really cares? There are much more important things in life than worrying about the effect of music on plants. It is a defense of Christian rock in a non threatening and entertaining manner.
So,there you have it.I give this 5 stars beacuse there are only 2 songs that I could do without and even they have good messages.
If you've never heard AA before, I'd recommend starting with Bloom then Some Kind of Zombie then Underdog. All are EXCELLENT CD's however.

5.0 out of 5 stars On a scale of 1 - 5, this is a 10!, November 2, 2000

I first heard AA at a Harvest Festival last summer. They were there with the Supertones, which was the band I wanted to hear. I went away amazed and in posession of a new album: Underdog. What a delightful treat.

I listened to it casually the following day, but when I heard "Let My Love Open The Door" really was the Who song, well, I had to go crank it up. I was hooked. Then that sweet, angelic voice of Jenifer Knapp singing back up and a verse on "It Is Well." It is a fascinating arrangement that only adds to the feeling and intensity of the old hymn. "This Day" is a sentiment I so often forget. It is my wife's favorite song because this is her life's goal, to give each day to Jesus "before her feet can hit the ground." The last song, "The Houseplant Song," had me in tears of laughter. I play this for all my friends, saved or not. When I got saved 4 years ago, I thought I was going to have to listen to bad music, but Audio Adrenaline; as well as several other great Christian bands have proved me wrong. This song pokes fun at the notion that we should play and listen to music to be embalmbed by. I love this album. I praise God for this band and their message. Buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is their best one yet!, December 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Underdog (Audio CD)
OK, we all know that Audio Adrenaline is good, but this cd totally rocks! I got this cd because I had liked their previous one, Some Kind of Zombie, but that one PALES in comparison to this one! I'm not really into Christian music that much, cuz it gets kind've boring hearing the same things about God and Jesus, and salvation all the time. So I was really surprised when I found myself BLOWN AWAY with this cd! If you're a new Christian and you're looking for something that fills in that gap where your secular music was, this cd is for you! If you're an old Christian tired of the same "Christian" themes, and looking for something that ties or beats DC Talk, this cd is for you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Thier best since "Bloom", March 16, 2000
This review is from: Underdog (Audio CD)
Ever since "Bloom" was released, I've been waiting for their next best, one that might eclipse "Bloom". "Zombie" fell short, and I couldn't wait to see how their next project turned out. Guess what? It turned out nearly prefect, eclipsing "Bloom" by a small margine. Every song is good/really good. The best one being "It's Over", which would be a hit if played on secular radio stations. (Hey, these guys would be a hit if they were a secular band.) The album hits a trough, however, in "The Jesus Movement", which was much too Sugar Rayish for me. "Underdog", "MGL" (Might Good Leader), "Get Down", "My Love", "Good Life", "Hands and Feet" . . . all good. But the second fault in this album is that it's too short. Only 12 tracks. But very good no matter the length. Oh, yeah, "Houseplant" song rocks. It's funny, tambien. Haha! Muy funny! Sorry, "Jesus Movement" and Spanish class are catching up to me. Great disc, buy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, January 20, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Underdog (Audio CD)
This cd is absolutely fun, with no holds barred. I get bored of music easily, but I've listened to the songs numerous times, and they've just gotten better and better. The lead (I don't know who sings) has a voice that lives up to the band name, and has a way of being incredibly appealing whether he's screaming or cooing. It's unique, but definitely very hot.

Almost all of the songs are energetic, throbbing and banging cheerfully away, with a kind of explosive strength. Lyrical depth is not their forte, but they convey such an excitement and likability, that it's almost excusable. And they remain focused and meaningful, with a heavy emphasis on spreading the Word.

Keep it up, you guys! I can't wait for the next one.

4.0 out of 5 stars First Three Songs Are Best, February 1, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Underdog (Audio CD)
Over all a good CD, especially the first three songs, "Mighty Good Leader", "Underdog", and "Get Down". As for rest of the album, it's very eclectic. You have swing, a Sugar Ray flavor song, a classic hymn, and then just a weird but very funny song in "The Houseplant Song". All in all, most Audio Adrenaline fans will not be disapointed.

I fell in love with Audio A at Spirit Fest this summer, and the first cd of theirs that I bought was "Some Kind of Zombie." While that's still my personal favorite, "Underdog" runs it a close second. "Underdog is definitely more diverse than SKOZ, and more musically upbeat. All twelve songs' lyrics are beautiful, thoughtful, and catchy. "Good Life," which deals with losing everything to find out that Christ is all you need, is my absolute favorite. And the cover of Pete Townshend's "Let My Love Open the Door" is better than the original. I love the whole cd, and I encourage anyone to buy it. "Underdog" has a little somethin'-somethin' for everyone. And due to my stereo's constant Audio A diet, my houseplant is thriving in front of my speakers, thank you very much. (*grin*)
