Turn up the volume!,
By
This review is from: Underground Communication (Audio CD)
It's been many years since an artist has pushed me to turn the volume dial to 11, but Lorin Ashton - aka Bassnectar - has succeeded in driving my neighbors to call the cops and my family to scream for mercy. After seeing him DESTROY the Root Society dome at Burning Man this year, I was captivated, moved, and elevated. It's about time someone came along to shake up and move the electronic music scene from self-gratification to social consciousness and political rebellion. Kudos to Bassnectar and enjoy gobbling up every note and beat. And that BASS; once you hear it you will be addicted like a "Bumfights" crack head.

Stomp is one seriously funky track. Bump a rump!,

4.5 stars
I was grooving to a great dance band last week and during the break the dj threw the track Stomp on. Man, my butt just started rockin' all over the floor. I got the name of the record from the dj and checked out all the bassnectar albums, and this is my favorite, mainly due to that track. Dig that huge drum sound! But only in a club can you hear the almost subsonic bass that really makes this track gargantuan at 100 decibels plus. This guy knows how to make a track throb with bass. The whole album rumbles like nutty. Boooom, baby. Fine production. Makes you wonder where the bass is on all your other cds. The rest of the cd is mostly fat and funky as well, with a nice mix of hiphop, trance, ambient and house vibes and the occasional decent rap thrown in. But nowhere is there any gangsta feel, etc; the coolest thing about bn is his desire to be intelligent, socially progressive and positive. He gets there and makes your ass drop at the same time. What more can you ask? Just Stomp played over and over at full volume in your favorite club...love that beat that comes in at 3:00. If that don't make your rump bump, get a walker.

Several good tracks here - Worth the purchase of CD - the bass is mesmerizing, and the vocal samples are fresh.
