A Must for Every Book Shelf,
By G. L. Warren (Sugar Land, Tx USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Underground Lawyer (Hardcover)
Who would think a book on law would be impossible to put down, but this one is. In fact, I made the mistake of setting the book down after reading it for an hour and my partner grabbed it and wouldn't let me have it back until he read it. This was the first real threat to our partnership. This book is not only interesting and entertaining, it may actually be one of the few that is useful too. When one of my children was recently arrested, I tried to get information as to her whereabouts, the charges, etc. with virtually no cooperation from any city or district attorneys nor the jail. I finally recalled Minns' recommendation to see a bondsman. I did and within 10-minutes had all the information regarding her. Minns' recommendations work. With the 100,000 new policemen Pres. Clinton put on the beat, everyone is more likely to have to deal with the legal community. Get this book and I promise you will be ahead in the legal game when you find you unexpectedly need to know what to do. I consider this one of the most valuable and useful books on my bookshelf. If my partner thinks he will get this one back, he's got that wrong.

As a litigator myself, I understand the overall complexities of "the law". However, I can't know everything about every aspect of law, so I refer lots of friends and clients to the Underground Lawyer to answer the questions I can't

The next best thing to a law school education, The Underground Lawyer covers everything from criminal law to bankruptcy. The poor man's guide to the American legal system.,
By james.183@osu.edu (Columbus, Ohio U.S.A.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Underground Lawyer (Hardcover)
This book takes the legal jargon and mysteries out of the justice system. Minns does an outstanding job in examining various aspects of law, and what the common man's rights are in numerous situations. While Minns sucessfully gets his points across in plain English, he does not make the reader feel as if they are reading, "Law For Dummies." If ever faced with a legal problem of my own his would be the first book I would consult for legal council.

Twenty years ago, I lost my husband in a crash. I was a widow at 25 and I wish I had had the underground lawyer then. This book is a real lifesaver when there's legal trouble around.

Michael Minns pulls the veil off the IRS,
This review is from: The Underground Lawyer (Hardcover)
What Michael Minns does here is to unravel the IRS from within the legal system. In addition, critical historical information on tax protestors and others is painstakingly documented. I find his style of presentation engaging and his impact as an outstanding figure on the US legal scene compelling. This book and his commentary on the actions of the IRS is must-consume fare for the generation that demands reform and transparency from the IRS and government in general. People of all political persuasions will appreciate Minns' message, and his historical perspective.

A great guide for law students... and lay readers!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Underground Lawyer (Hardcover)
When I first got this book, I was a lay reader. Now I am about to graduate from law school and it is still pertinent to my life. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in becoming an attorney or hiring one.
