AMAZING REFRESHING - FINALLY A BAND WITH A VISION,
By A Customer
This review is from: Underground (Audio CD)
The music is diverse in sound, the lyrics are strong and powerful. Kris Alexander's songs are truly written from the heart and expressed through the power of the music. This is one CD that won't leave my car for a long time...I just want more and hope another CD is released SOON!

Cool New Alt-Goth Rock? Could be.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Underground (Audio CD)
This ablum was rather interesting. The first song "pleasure fiend" was rather unique, with cool retro synth groove and a marilyn manson'esque sound. The other songs we're well produced and sounded good, but I'm not sure if they would stand-out from other current music as well. "Velvetine" also hinted at a gothy manson or depeche mode feel, with 80's almost iggy pop sounding chorus. "Inside reality" seemed sounded a-lot like most of the hard-alterna rock that on the radio, and "alien song" had an alterna feel with some cool sounds. Overall a good effort, which has potential to grow into something unique.

Good First Attempt,

The production on here is very very good as the guitars sound big and meaty. I think that the singer goes a little over the top at times and should stay away from doing this on the next recording, meaning oversinging when he doesn't need to. Bass and drums are steady, stay in the pocket and don't really veer off course, which is how they should be. The songs - Alien Love Song is probably the best as it has a groove to it and the singer stays in a lower key which is his natural style. Velvatine is good instrumentally, but singer does a little over the top singing here which takes away from the subtlety of the songs........I am writing too much here...Overall - a good first effort.

Not groundbreaking, but interesting irregardless. "Pleasure Friend" has a catchy chorus. Smashing Pumpkins-influenced, but lacking SP's emotional depth. The singer reminds me of the Cult's Ian Astbury on Thorazine.

This band is incredible. I saw them live the other night and they blew me away. Great stage presence, incredible songs, and the CD is tight! A band that is on the verge of making it big...Fast, strong guitars, loud powerful drums, tight, rhythmic bass. A perfect combo for a great listen.

this cd is awesome. the producing is tight. the vocals are out of the ether. and the guitars... everything from delicate to buzzsaw. definite ear candy. i've been watching this group for a while and they are ready to explode onto the main stage. bring back the wings sage!

This is purely evil...............I think that the CIA should use this when torturing people as it would work wonders if given a chance.

Stay Underground,

Ok, so after lots of hype by the band (emails etc.), I decided to check it out. All I can say is it needs work. Very indie indeed. The disc is an admirable attempt at bringing bad 80's music up to date. Stimulant suffers from a howling vocalist and some out of tune guitar playing. My advice? Get a good producer, one who will notice these things and fix them. Also, get someone who can help your songwriting. No hits here. Keep working guys, you may have something in there if you dig far enough and sweat hard enough. You just need some serious guidance.

An Atrocity,

Sounds like a big budget recording, but the songs are ridiculously weak. Although maybe I'm missing the point, maybe this is a parody of tired corporate rock.
