I bought one of these from AbcToy4me - they used the same description referring to the "spinning dome" feature.

This version is from the UK and does not have a spinning dome/head. Only the version imported from Japan has this feature (and also has color changing LED's in the holo-emitter).

Also, the two USB ports on the rear are fowled by the legs when R2 leans back. This means that you cannot use them for a BlueTooth adapter or USB flash drive.

While the details are fairly accurate, the mould quality isn't great. On the one I had, there were four seams in the silver portion of the dome (meaning that each quarter of the mould was not well lined up with the next when the plastic was injected in).

I returned mine because it did not work as described. If it were $20 I would rate it higher, but for just a static USB hub that beeps, it is too expensive.

PS: Abctoy4me did not reply to any of my emails, so I sent it back using Delivery Confirmation. They received it but still haven't credited it back to my credit card. Mailing it back to them cost me another $9.70, which I am out of pocket for - all because of an incorrect product description.

I have to agree with the other 2 reviewers. Save your money - don't buy this. This R2D2 USB Hub DOES NOT move its head (as advertised). In addition, mine has the word DEMO on the front of it. I bought this from ABC Toys. I will never buy from them again.

I have to second the original reviewers analysis. This product CANNOT operate the way it is advertised to, the head cannot spin, on mine no lights came on. I don't know how they can advertise actions it can't perform.

This is a cheap UK import and not the original Japan version. It's made of a cheaper plastic and has no LED's or dome spinning action. Pay the extra $10 and get the real deal from Entertainment Earth or Think Geek.

I bought mine from an online Geek store rather than Amazon, but my complaint is the same as others. It does not light up as advertised, the dome does not spin, and the word "Demo" is printed on the front. For $32 I felt ripped off, and this cheaper mock-up is worth only half that. Works as a USB port, but if I just wanted a USB port I would have gotten one. I wanted the USB port that was a working R2 toy...unfortunately, the R2 hub you get is not the one advertised. Save your money.

As soon as I received, half of the floor in the office gathered to watch the opening of the package and later they demanded that they wanted to watch it work.

The device works like any other USB hub, it even have an option to connect an ac adapter to power more hungry devices like phones and external hard drives.

Overall I am delighted and really happy to have acquired this item, every time you connect a mouse, keyboard, pen drive or anything at all it makes sounds, not to worry it has a on off button that will mute the sounds but keep the hub functionality intact.

PS. His head and legs have movement and its a perfect replica of an R2, it also have a DEMO button that let you listen to the sounds it make when something is plugged to him.

The usb does not support powering devices (i.e., you can't plug your iPhone to charge); unlike the Japanese version, this one does not move his head or emit R2 sounds. I returned it. Darth Vader usb, although you still can't charge an iPhone (or anything else for that matter), it does make the cool breathing sounds, background light sabre, eye light up and head turns.

So I love how it looks on my desk. Love the extra usb ports. Hate the sounds. When you plug or unplug a device it plays r2d2 sounds for a good minute. There is pauses between the sounds and each time you think its finished when it's just getting started. Plugging stuff in before you turn your computer on is the best bet.
