The thin, light, fluffy Teebaud underlay is made from two non-woven polyester fabrics that are permanently needle-punched together. The white fabric was developed specifically for application over carpeting, the gray for use on hard floors. These fabrics will not rot, crumble, flatten out, or shed fibers.

Both sides of the Teebaud underlay are lightly coated with a scientifically formulated, clean-lift, water-based adhesive. I have used this product for about 7 years on my sailboat to prevent carpeting from slipping while at rest and under sail. The most important feature to me is it does not leave a pattern in the varnished floor when lifted up to change the underlay. Most waffle like rubber underlays will eventually leave a permanent pattern through the varnish requiring either a permanent rug to cover the marks or a need to re-varnish the cabin sole. If you do decide to remove the carpet and the underlay soap and water will remove any adhesive like residue left on the cabin sole. On the negative side if you walk on the uncovered undelay too often the dirt and dust from your shoes will limit the stickiness of the top layer and reduce the holding power of the product. The price from this vendor is competitive.
