5.0 out of 5 stars No Doubt is underneath it all on this song.
"Underneath It All" is No Doubt's best song off their 'Rock Steady' album. It's a ballad with a hip-hop feel to it. Gwen Stefani's voice is amazing, as usual. This CD single is a must have. Here are the track listings:

1.) "Underneath It All" [album version] ~ also the radio version. You've probably heard it by now. It's amazing! 5/5 stars

1.0 out of 5 stars What's the problem?
"Tragic kingdom" was exelent, i really enjoyed that album, but recently they have only been making annoying "i don't know what i shall call it" pop. They have changed their music alot to the bad, the songs released are nowhere near the music they used to do. This one Is really dull enough said.

2.) "Underneath It All" [radio 1Live Acoustic version] ~ the acoustic version is superb! Nice acoustic guitar on this song. 5/5 stars

3.) "Just A Girl" [radio 1live Acoustic version] ~ awesome version of a single from their 'Tragic Kingdom' album. Once again, nice acoustic guitar sound. 4/5 stars

4.) "Underneath It All" [enhanced video] ~ cool music video! I like this a lot. 5/5 stars

Though I didn't really like a lot of the songs from the 'Rock Steady' album (and I'm a big No Doubt fan), I think "Underneath It All" is the best song from the album, and possibly one of No Doubt's best all together.

I highly recommend this CD single.

5.0 out of 5 stars what's wrong with people?, February 23, 2003

okay i'm sorry but i'm getting really aggravated when i see that every other review is like "ew no doubt sux0rz now cuz they rn't ska" hi grow up. realize that groups have to mature. if they were pumping out the same types of tunes over and over again... well it would get boring. and it would also show that they can't grow up and mature at all. but no, they chose to change over time with their audience but still keep the same great spunk that i think most fans love about them. why do so many people have a problem with this?

yes, this song is slower than most ND stuff, but hey, it's a sweet, fun song that you can still groove to. it's awesome, and so is the video, and gwen is gorgeous in it. ok so buy it, don't listen to these posers.

5.0 out of 5 stars I've seen right through and underneath, September 20, 2002
This review is from: Underneath It All (Audio CD)
Since I'm a huge No Doubt fan, I don't hesitate to buy any of their singles. At first, I was a little disappointed to hear that "New Friend" was still unreleased as a b-side, but was happy to hear there was going to be an acoustic version of "Underneath it All."

The acoustic is WONDERFUL, I couldn't be happier. The song almost has a completely different vibe. The "Just A Girl" acoustic is good, too, but it's basically the same ol'. I wish they would have picked a different track off Rock Steady to do acoustic, such as "Don't Let Me Down" or "Detective," or even a lesser track from Tragic Kingdom or Return of Saturn.

All in all, the single is good. It includes the video for the title track, also.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gwen Stefani's voice is amazing ... stunning ... great CD!!!, April 11, 2003

I must have listened to this CD 6 or 7 times in a row as soon as I left the store (I was driving in my car!). "Underneath it All" comes in the album mix and a great acoustical version. Following that is an acoustical version of "Just A Girl". And there's a bonus video on the CD but you need Real Player (or compatible) to watch it.

Obviously, Gwen Stefani had a lot of fun making this CD and this is apparent when you listen to the songs. She has to be one of the most versatile singers in pop music today. Every time I listen to one of the songs here, I refresh my amazement at Stefani's control, pitch, restraint and pure playfulness.

Best import I've bought in a long time. This is just a great CD. I think you'll be pleased. I know I am!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful, November 27, 2002
This review is from: Underneath It All (Audio CD)
Words just can't describe how much I hate this song. I like No Doubt, but this song just sucks. Tragic Kingdom is their best album to date. I bought the Return to Saturn cd, and I was very disappointed in it. I only liked 2 songs on that cd. I was going to buy Rock Steady, but somebody warned me not to buy it because it is just like Return to Saturn. I've liked Hey Baby and Hella Good, and I bet that will be the only two songs that I like if I did run out and buy Rock Steady. No Doubt, please return to your roots instead of cranking out this [rubbish].
