Personally, this CD made the anticipation for Archetype almost unbearable, it is just that good.
Sven
He displays an awesome talent for coming out extremely raw on a track and just rip it to shreds.

Well if you've gotten here already then I shouldn't have to say much more, Tonedeff one of the most lyrical emcees the underground keeps under it's subterainian strangle hold puts out an "official accompaniment piece to Archtype" with Archtype being his next CD. His words are just astonishing, I mean mainstream rappers bow in shame after hearing this album...they send Tone sacks of cash for thier guilt of being so wack compaired to him. But anyway enough jock-riding*pause* this CD is great, the lyrics are incredible, punchlines amazing, he sings...he even slices through a thin shoe...yeah it is kinda soundin like an advertisment. BUY THIS CD, trust me, then cop the Extended Famm CD, Happy F*ck You Songs, as that CD is still bumping in my car almost a year now!!! Actually anything with the Qn5 label is a safe bet...like loaded dice, buy it now forsake the price, and you too will say it's nice, don't make me say it twice, this is the best move you could ever make in your life.

If you want to hear the growth that, artist, Tonedeff went through to get to the point he is today then you should listen to Underscore. The one thing that did not change about Tonedeff is every song he gives you is a quality track. It goes great with Archetype. Buy them both.

Absolutely fabulous album, it's such a novelty to own it because it's so hard to find. It's totally worth it-- Underscore includes 14 tracks of pure bliss. If you enjoy Underscore I also definately recommend purchasing Archetype as well.

This was the first CD I heard from Tonedeff, I only got introduced to him 2 years ago, I know I was sleeping bigtime when I heard this CD. He shows his wide variety of skills on this CD, he has the singing, fast rapping, flow, but most importantly his lyrics. They are always on point, his wordplay is just awesome. He is my definition of a complete artist and this cd is just one example of why he is that. The first songs I heard from this CD was Shag and Love Aint Remix. The way he gets deep on Love Aint made me rewind and rewind several times, then he he had the ability to just wyle out and have fun on a track like Shag but still remain to have lyrical world play and fun. You do not find that a lot nowadays. He displays an awesome talent for coming out extremely raw on a track and just rip it to shreds. After I listened to this CD, I knew Tonedeff was truely something special and I think Hip Hop needs most artists like this. This led me on to a lot of his older material which is just as good

He and this CD gets 2 thumbs up for me

I first heard Tonedeff showcasing his lyrical abilities on a couple compilations from Domingo (Game Over 2 & The Difference) so this release was very anticipated. It turns out, this is serving as a companion piece to his first official release (Archetype). This includes b-sides, rarities, etc. with some banging beats from Domingo,Kno,and Tone also produced a couple. If your like me, you'll be hooked on this album right from the jump off after the intro.(TNT is explosive!!). Tone probably has one of the fastest deliveries while rhyming , he's right up there with Twista. Only differnce is Tone's still holdin down the underground with viscious battle rhymes & hilarious punchlines. He shares mic time with Extended Famm affiliate Session , the Cunninglynguists , & Rah-ziggy-zel.Now I'm ordering QN-5 Aserisk 2 Mix c.d. to see what the rest of the label has to offer. Tonedeff is definetely leading their pack.

New to Tonedeff? I'd suggest you check out "Archetype" before-hand, since it is the album he's wanted to put out all his life. But that doesn't mean that "Underscore" needs to go overlooked. This album was basically released as a teaser, or a preview to Archetype, and it certainly serves it's purpose. What the album lacks in direction, it makes up for with solid to great songs. With songs like "Safety First," "Hypocrite," "TNT," "Give A Damn," "Frequency," and the "Love Ain't [rmx]," Tonedeff released a compilation of songs that contend with most artist's official albums.

Underscore is the official accompaniment album to Archetype. Even though it is not a full LP, it is still a must have. It includes exclusive tracks that were not included on Tonedeff's first official LP "Archetype" for one reason or another. Not because they weren't as good as the songs on Archetype, just that they did not fit with the overall feel. This is not a sloppy collection of B-sides thrown on a cd, every song is sick. Even with this compilation Tone proves he is easily one of the most talented emcee's in hip hop today.

Underscore is a great compliation CD. Yet again Tonedeff delivers excellent Hip Hop music. Throw this CD on at any party and watch people start buzzing and ask "Who this is guy?" Personally, this CD made the anticipation for Archetype almost unbearable, it is just that good. Some of my favorites tracks are "Love Aint (Remix)", "Hypocrite(ft Deacon)", and "Give a Damn". Underscore is a must have for any hip hop fan.
