I bought this as a set of Three Books. I spent $0.40 each for the three. Of course minimum wage was $0.90 an hour in 1963. Or to put it even more to date. My allowance was only $0.25 a week so after 5 weeks I had enough to by all three books and get a $0.05 coke at the local drug store. The guy would put an ounce of syrup in a glass add ice and the carbonated water to it. The things this kid went through in the tonga trench to find his uncle was amazing. Boy was this book fun to read. I am not sure if these books had anything to do with it. Still It was during this time frame that Popular Mechanix came up with a way to put a couple of Lead acid batteries and two electric trolling motors to make an underwater diving scooter. You made it from fiberglas and soft pine wood to build this great diving scooter. We lived near a scrap yard and I got everything for only $15.00. Boy was that a lot of lawns mowed that summer. I charged only a dollar for a great big lawn. I got about $.25 profit for each lawn. The rest was the cost of Gas and paying for the lawn mower. So now I had a summer of great fun learning to understand the under world water. I also had to buy Flippers and a Mask to dive with. All from reading three great books. dray
